  • Gee, I was hoping to see some of Tex doing the weather. I remember we were at my Uncles house when he said it.

  • When he said what? The weather, or some snide remark about a horrible news story?

  • If I recall correctly, Tex's weather spot followed a news story about a local rape. He said when it was inevtiable, "lie back and enjoy it." There was an avalanche of protest. Not to be outdone, the local anchor, Roger Grimsby- again, if I recall right- weeks later said something like, "lie back and enjoy this next story." Tex may have been gone already, but Roger was showing his support.

  • @defundthewar If I remember correctly, it was slightly worse than that. Antoine said something along the lines of "Confucius say, 'Lie back and enjoy it'". A sad end to his career. I remember having a book about the weather or utility tips with cartoon representations of Antoine in it.

  • @gilgamess ive seen that book isnt that the one antoine wrote with his cartoon character uncle weatherbe in it the tv sets in the book looked dingy with wooden signs no computer screens like we have on the news today storm feild was a weatherman that made an apperance in a shopping mall I was talking to him about some science reporting some guy kept asking about the antoine incident meanwhile on wabc am radio roby young was fired for playing a beatle record backwards with a hidden message

  • @defundthewar roger grimsby was laid off in the wake of the barbara walters fad of haveing a woman anchor woman he was hired in the first place in the huntley brinkley report fad of haveing two male anchormen

  • Thanks for that image of Tex Antoine. He was the first TV weatherman that I ever remember watching. We had a pamphlet in my house about understanding the weather with the cartoons drawn by him, so the memory of him has always stuck in my mind.

  • I had a crush on Alice Playten as a kid.

  • I noticed that as of 1970, TV-15 (ABC's 58th Street studios) seemed to have General Electric PE-350 cameras. I once attended a taping of "The $10,000 Pyramid" in 1975, and by then they were using Norelco PC-70's, from my recollection.

  • GREAT PICS, but SEVERE COMB-OVER ALERT AT 1:51, lol...

  • Heard a song about those days by Mary Hopkin on a radio in a store. Now I know what she looks like, kind of reminds me alot of Taylor Swift with longer hair.
