why did anyone think this collaboration was a good idea?? we all know the song...not really room for jerry in the mix...love jerry and the dead...like ccr
Jerry usually didn't try to outshine or step on the toes of someone elses performance, it was his humble nature. He could easily play circles around everyone if he wanted to. Jerry can shred there's many examples of it.. he usually does it at the end of a song like Deal.
Purpleganja....it's not about speed of play, and you're a jackass. Maybe the lyrical content of Fogerty's song was too intense for a fucked up Garcia and he didn't want to play.
Are you kidding me? a fucked up garcia? At this time garcia was completely clean, jerry was a better guitarist then all those musicians on stage combined. The band is not dynamic band like the dead, therefore it doesn't make sense for him to solo, check out him jamming with Santana around the same time. He tears it up, because that band understands dynamics. Not bashing on John F, because he's great.
Are you kidding me Jerry and tGD used to play 3x as fast. Typical Fogerty ego has Jerry out and spends 3 min just screaming "It aint me" over and over again. Lets the boys rock out. So overrated...
This was a good day! I remember John waiting for Jerry to get ready. He got tired of waiting and bust into a song (can't pull up which one). They proceeded to tear that place apart!
@ThreeQuickQuestions I think the first time Fogarty did the CCR tunes was at the Vietnam Benefit show in around 1987. I remember listening to an FM simulcast of the show and am pretty sure they mentioned that.
