  • So beautiful!

  • People Under The Stairs- Fredly Advice outro

Damn some of best producers sampled this without youtube I wouldn't even know

  • didn't Madlib made the beat for The Official

  • Once again incrediblechiller comes thru with a rare track!

  • i love that Dilla made to different songs out of this Genuis

  • I love this track!!!

This tune from Gap Magione is definitely a great inspiration. I'd listen to this track over and over. Dilla or Fliying Lotus made great track out of it too. What good arguing about who did the best cover or who need best recognition? Gap is the source, and great artists made his genius revive. This is what I like about music. Sounds perpetually intertwined that would enrich themselves over and over!

  • dilla's a brilliant guy, he has brought all of these people here together to listen to ACTUAL music.

  • Youtube needs an automatic repeat option already.. #TurnItUp

  • @laloyyoli1 youtuberepeatdotcom

  • @JazzyFunkaHolic THANK YOU!!

  • its a beautiful song regardless with or without jaylib .. the fact is most people are looking up this track because of them , great music should be passed along its a commandnment of any artistic soul ... respect the old but embrace the new

  • HONESTLY......I love slum village, but when I heard the original version, I realized that the original is better.....if i didnt hear the original, i wouldve not been the wiser and said dilla version is the illest.....however, when it comes to dilla, if you really listen to the original sample in its entirety, than you are more appreciative of the original than the sample. If anyone really listened to dilla, then you know that he loved the songs he sampled and chose accordingly....

  • great song!

  • this guy's brother blows him out the water

  • This is such a great composition, and Jay Dee got me so inspired I had to make a kind of tribute! Check it out on soundcloud search for Doctrations. Mad respect too Gap Mangione

  • diana wont -dimlite

  • This song was used for a third known beat. Listen very closely, if you call it out I'll buy you a beer

  • @kurt2rsenjazz flying lotus.

  • @kurt2rsenjazz not one of his dilla tributes its a song he made for adult swim

  • Who'd ever think Hip Hop would take it this far!

  • dont seeell ya seeeelf to fall in loove

  • Also sampled in "For good & Forever" Cant remember the actual producer atm though

  • Don't sell yaself to fall in love

  • listen to:

    Dimlite - Diana Won't

Flying Lotus - Fall In Love

    REMAKEs

  • I hate how people refer to this excellent song just as a "sample". Honestly, what the fuck how can you not appreciate the original itself? You guys are makin Dilla roll over in his grave.. I also like how people need to mention that flying lotus sampled this for "fall in love" when it was originally on a Slum Village album.

  • @Theb0x dilla didnt sample the sax for fall in love but flying lotus did i was just pointing that out

  • @Theb0x - just because someone mentions the sample does not mean thats all they see it for and have no appreciation for the song. dont get so worked up and realize that the sample is probably what brought them to this great track in the first place. and who gives a shit if people mention that it was sampled by others, its not like dilla owned the sample. light a joint/blunt and enjoy the music

  • @TheFreshPeddler i agree with you but the fact is j dilla and madlib took this song and made it an underground culture explosion ... if not for them this song would of probably not of been explored or even looked up they literally made it theres either way the music is beautiful and respected that we can all agree on

  • @Theb0x i think you should let people enjoy and appreciate the music and do the same your self lol theres no need to beef over music we both like. peace

  • flying lotus fall in love j dilla tribute also sampled this at 1:36

  • Fuck this rap shit, I listen to classical...

  • Fredly advice - People under the stairs...even though it was just an outro

  • absolute greatness.

  • i feel bad for this young generation they will never get to experience talent and creativeness like this with all this lil wayne lollipop nonsense"!!!!

  • dilla found this gem and chopped it up proper!!!!!!!

  • @slammedcordon17s

  • 43 years later and this song is still dope as ever. A true classic.

  • Thumbs up if whenever you hear anything associated with dilla (beats, songs, samples, etc) then look up towards the sky and smile:)

i do it over 20 times a day :D hah

  • were the vocals for "fall in love" sampled too? or is that just some sound booth shit?

  • @sdsteez that was dilla singing

  • Any other producers/beatmakers that got this in the crate....#thowItAway, you can't use it, unless you can top Madlib or Dilla

  • i sampled the first part awhile back n when i became a madlib fan i realised i made an exact copy :( ...i feel so uncreative

  • absolutely incredible.

  • absolutely incredible.

  • this song is unreal

  • DL the audio from this vid at tubepull doht cohm.

  • Don't forget Dimlite-Dianna Won't

  • i hate to kill the j dilla buzz, but MADLIB PRODUCED THE OFFICIAL! j dilla was on vocals!

  • @HellolzEveryone yeah but dilla produced Fall In Love by Slum Village. which also samples this tune. hence the Dilla comments.

  • @FKRAPCITY oh alright. i was gettin sort of pissed because madlib is one of my favorite producers. j dilla is too, but i've heard a lot more madlib.

  • best sample ever?

  • yes. yes it is.

  • @24karrotts WITHOUT a fucking doubt. im really surprised this doesnt have more views

  • @24karrotts

word and off course then best intro of a jazz song ever..

  • how did dilla and madlib manage to pull not one, but two, count 'em, TWO FUCKING HITS, with this one sample. they are like the mozarts of hip hop production

  • I cosign! they are dude!

  • 2 songs in one sample

    1. The offical-Jaylib

    2. Fall in love- Slum Village

  • That's nice

  • @Bonafide996 people under the stairs used this too. search 'people under the stairs hidden track'.

  • @Bonafide996 3 songs: 3. Plan B - HaLo feat. TP & Slkyzoo (prod. by 9th Wonder)

  • this is too much, cant get it through my brain how good the original is, and then what dilla and madlib done with it respectively is just pure skill!!

    Peace!

  • WORD*

  • this has to be one of the illest record covers in music...

  • never seen this one b4...this is a dope cover

  • to much love ^^

  • madlib produced the official and dilla did fall in love

  • madlib produced it, jay rapped over it, end of conversation.

  • actually Madlib' was done before Dilla's was

and Dilla's was a loop, c'mon don't start that shit

  • See now this makes sense...I was always confused about the Jaylib track "Official"...i know its been said a million times but it really does bounce like a Dilla track, not madlib, who in my mind has done nothing similar in his production collection. But he must have been influenced by Dilla's previous use of this amazing song. Respect to madlib but I just dont buy how he would otherwise just pull a heavy-dilla-style beat Official out of the bag randomly. makes sense.

  • i disagree.

I honestly think Madlib had as much influence on Dilla than Dilla did on him

Dilla had a much more mellow style early on. And he got even better/diverse after he met and collaborated with Madlib

  • Dilla said something like that in an interview, like how Madlib was so crazy out there with his style

  • Dont sell yourself to fall in love....man Dilla RIP

  • ok. this is where he got the fall in love beat from! ok! Nice! RIP DILLA!

  • First off, I love some of J Dilla's work. Like 10 Bricks. He MURRRRDERED that! but . . on jaylibs official . . he merely looped it and the percussion is sub par and frumpy. it has a certain groove to it i must say, sort of a Pete Rock feel. but . . when i'm about to sample something i check who did it b4 me and if they made it BANANAS then i don't touch it, out of admiration. Needless to say . . this sample is not off limits. Irregardless . . long live J Dilla R.I.P.

  • shut up and ROCK TO IT

  • clown.

  • irregardless is not a word

  • madlib did the official...

    dilla did fall in love.

facts have been straightened, and I'd like to see you produce the official

  • HAHAHAHA. Nice one 'Irregardless' - you imbecile.

  • Dude...you do know Madlib made 'The Official,' beat...Dilla chopped it way better for Fall In Love.

  • Visioneers. album: Dirtyoldremixes

    Funbox (DJ Jazzy Jeff remix)

  • SICK!!! NUFF SAID

  • j dilla and jaylib made a good choice.

  • lol two bangers in one song the official and fall in love

  • Fredly Advice - People Under The Stairs

  • saugeil

  • people under the stairs sampled this too.

  • Fredly Advice - PUTS!!!!

    The P rock rock on!

  • Ain gon lie, i feel Madlibs version more cuz it bangs but when I'm in my mode or zoning out, Dilla does it for me. Madlib and Dilla, the two very best. Also, I fell that Dilla put a lil more thought into his beat like no disrespect but Madlib could've made The Officaial in two seconds just by looping it. Dilla went in and found the melodies. But those horns are serious so props to both.

  • Both versions are equally hot!!

  • J diLLa R>I>B

  • the mangione brothers are pretty good i like chuck just a little more i love the horn at 1:37 that would be a awesome part to sample

  • Yeah, dilla and madlib both sampled it, and both made killer tracks (especially fall in love) - but why are they getting all the credit? Its a great song by Gap Mangione!! Gap Mangione!!! Jeez...

  • ^^^word to that. If you wanna give Dilla and Madlib their props, do it on the Fall n Love and The Official pages. Besides, all they did was loop it - this cat wrote it!

  • lol i wen ppl say all they did was loop it. its more den juss loopin. i produce trax ma self. and tha fall in love waz not looped. wen i remad that beat i had to cut certain parts out and put it bak together kinda like a puzzle. so dont get it twisted its more to the art of sampling then juss loopin. its wat yuh put into it

  • yeah, most of these people who talk about shit is just loopin cant make a hot beat to save their lives so it dont matter

  • Dilla didn't loop lol...listen carefully. But Madlib, yeah.

  • dilla loops a lot though

  • I wouldn't say a lot. A lot of his stuff sounds looped but he chops very subtly. Case in point, what he did with this sample for Fall In Love. He was a genius of this shit.

  • it's the official

    official

    official

  • For Champion Sound:

If Dillas spittin then Madlib wrote the beat and vice versa.

  • Yup. I got the double disc and its pretty sick

  • J DILLA REST IN BEATS.

  • Hahaha, man that's a great way to say it.

  • My God that image is scary. THE OFFICIAL! Hands in the air lemme see your wrist glow! Turn me up anotha notch in ya system, you know you want that hot shit to listen.

  • this is also slum village fall in love

  • 0: 37 - 0:41

    Epic !!!!!

    R.I.P J Dilla Dawg !

  • Come on people don't you people know it was Madlib who did this beat and Dilla who's rhymin'? You all giving credits, but to the wrong one for this track.. this was done by Madlib

  • ok but dilla used this also for fall n love for slum village

  • madlib killed it on the beat, but i like how dilla came rapping on it too, i give credit to both

  • They probably both planned it together, remember? Jaylib was the name of the band.

  • nah i give dilla more credit for fall n love... both dope songs though. you need to study your shit before you come out with statements like that....

  • yes that is aface..

  • wow man dilla, i cant say enough, the musical genius speaks for itself. Madlib does dilla big justice on continuing on what is left of hip hop today. rip dilla

  • IS THAT A FACE ON THE COVER

  • turn me up another notch in ur system

  • madlib sampled this on the new beat conducta

  • yeah y would a wrist blow

  • hands in the air let me see yo wrist blow

  • wrist glow

  • Amazing sample....J Dilla was a true producer in every sense of the word.

  • Now we Know!

  • Jay Dee sampled this tune with hability!
