Ah not always true! There are three screws (not including the ground screw), make sure you remove the wires on the 2 of 3 same colored screws and replace it to the same colored wires or screws then put the wire (your common wire) on the last off colored screw to the remaining wire or screw on your dimmer or your three ways wont work properly. Every electrician wires things just alittle differently, theres always more than one way to do it just make sure you transfer your commons correctly
