omg people it was a exchange student from mexico who was named jesus for god sakes shut the fuck up there is nothing religious about this song, the artist also claimed he didnt believe in gods or a god
It's about a Mexican boy named Jesus, who said he didn't go to one of the band member's birthday parties, but that band memeber swears he saw Jesus (the Mexican boy) at the party. And yes it was a 17th. My conclusion is that Jesus (the Mexican boy) got really drunk and can't recall the event. This song has no religious meaning. I was surprised, very cool song though regardless of the meaning.
This proves that Jesus came to her 17th birthday party, but hasn't been around to see her in a while. And also that she moved to the city. And now I can relax to a brilliant new song I heard on the radio in lab. Life.
Anyone who can send me a link or help me out with getting their song Dirty Looks,I would love to hear from you.i cannot purchase it elsewhere, being american. Please help me out,it'd be much appreciated as they are my fav band. Thanks,my email is nicholastowery88@yahoo.com

i love this. i love the middle east. i love everything about them. i think they are my all time favourite everything! band/colour/food/drink/EVERYTHING!
Let's just rewind back to this song, play it in our heads again not think upon the matter of if it proves Jesus exists, if it doesn't, the conflict that the name may or may not ensue; it's all about the music guys.
And you lads shouldn't be ripping on this because it's a different sound to their other songs. They have three songwriters. They play different moods of music - it's not unheard of - and pull it off in an awesome fashion.
So much love for this band and so much love to Triple J bringing them to us all . Kingsmill is nothing short of the most influential (and best) Australian
@danielbmarques Nah...just a fairy tale written down in a book. Cinderella is a written text...did she exist? Still fail to see how this song proves Jesus' existence...
@4teacher4 Well, I think Flavius Josephus is a little more reliable than the brothers Grimm (historically, of course). Some guys think Shakespeare never existed, though (Google "Shakespeare authorship question"). Go figure. There actually might be less evidence for Shakespeare than for Jesus... but whatever.
Don't get me wrong; I'm an atheist. Jesus may have been just some carpenter, but thinking that he never existed without some serious basis is rather silly.
@danielbmarques Still missing the whole point of what started this discussion; how someone can say a song proves the existence of Jesus is beyond me. Utter nonsense.
@lukeylolkirsty yes. Jesus is a very common name in spanish speaking countries. hey dont shoot the messenger its just what they said on the interview.

This song is great. Isn't it about a suicide or a death when the boy was only 17 ?
