@heybofe Yes wasn't it a brilliant answer? Most people would say something obvious like when i got married or when i had my children, how boring. Not Morrissey he is full of wit, he comes out with such amazing things that make you think!
@timewillprove I wanted to type in the whole paragraph it came from, but it's just too long- about 2500 characters. It's from the book: "The Smiths: an extraordinary ordinaryness".
Wasn't familiar with this one but in preparation for the Gibson show I checked it out and found that hearing it live almost made me cry. Because of my poor education..
Stayed true to Moz since 1984 but nothing he's done since Maladjusted has touched my heart quite deeply. Nor the Quarry (exept 2 tracks), either the Ringleader (maybe 1 track) or Years of (none!) are close to the greatness of the era 1983-1995. But I still do love the man and admire him...and I still do believe his one the greatest lyricists of our time.
he sings really well these days and his voice is quite lovely .. but his lyrics are almost throwaway these days .. the occasional flash of genius still but generally it is quite derivative .. of himself . its melodic and pleasant .. but no more .
@19189073 quite a multi tasker then haha

Morrissey was once asked in an interview: "When were you most happy?"
He answered: May 21,1959 ...That's the day before he was born.

Did he really? What a silly thing to say.

The protagonist in this song should meet the monster that November spawned and the two of them should get married.

Christ, are you being serious? As a devout fan who used to plan any stage invasion I could to hug the God he is...I have to say you're wrong

@thequeenizdead
It's lyrically amazing. And I also am as devout a fan. His face is inked on my body thrice. So na-na-na-na-na-na!

Man.. this song is amazing... Morrissey can just do that sometimes... wow.

do you not think he tries to sing too much now where before the tormentors album he would sing without caring if you know what I mean?????
ROBERTtheBROOS 2 years ago
Hmmm... I think thats just his voice changing because of his old age, he might be but he's changing a lot lately.
TrevorMTopham 2 years ago
I think you mean "older age", as he's hardly reached old age at this point.

i know what you mean but i also agree... his voice is just changing

The very very first intro-note on the piano reminds me of the very, very first intro-note from "Ordinary Boys"

Reminds me of Bowie with Garson. This song is very very gay. I love it and I love Mozz.

Moz posing as Frank Sinatra? The song is NOT gay! However, you are, my dear page.
