he was wasting some units before.. sending it to the middle .. and getting wiped out but by that point the game was already decided.. i believe he could have gone for a few more drones and strengthen economy.. or perhaps another expansion and pop hydralisk to backup those guardians would have ended it faster

I don't think so- I think the combination of guards backing up lurkers was perfect, making it really expensive for firebathero to go in and try to kill the lurkers. And he did expand after making the natural lift the first time, which allowed him to switch to mass units.

it was the fast lurks that made it possible they contained fbh and threatened to kill his econ if he moved out before he could deal with them which allowed july to sit back and tech comfortably w/o being harassed

a dropship to that 3rd of july to take out the drones might have let fbh come back into this at that point

Well, we also didn't see broodlings or infested terrans . . . but then again, I have NEVER seen a broodling or an infested terran in a pro match. If anybody could tell me a pro match where either of these units was used for a real purpose (other than humiliation), I would greatly appreciate it.

Actually I saw Broadlings for the very first time a week ago. And I don't even think it was humiliation, though it kinda failed. It was "go.go vs Sea.FireFist 1 set" a OSL round of 36 group C match, played on the 24 dec 08. It's on the Jon747 account.

Ive also seen infested terran used with purpose once. The Zerg dropped an infested terran in the SCV line killing a huge numbers of SCV... but thats years ago.

I founded the game with infested terran. It was "cool vs Nada" in the 2006 proleague (its on the VioleTAK account). But after seeing it again, I realized that it actually was pure humiliation.

My tour of pro StarCraft units will now be nearly complete with the effective use of every single building, unit, research, upgrade, and command used seriously and effectively in a pro game at least once EXCEPT: - The broodlings weren't used to great effect, although indeed used seriously. - I have never seen the scout range upgrade in a pro game (I have seen speed, I think).

sadly they got rid of the 2v2 scene so you cant see some of the finer points like medics healing zealots and D-matrix reavers or stasis to set up a nuke

also i saw a foreign game on bluestorm where the zerg infested the nat floated the cc to the landible terrain behind the nat(on the high ground) made some infested terrans and almost ALMOST got them in to the new cc that came up shortly after thru the little choke with the queen still near by to infest again but there was a bunker full of rines

back won iron curtain i saw some PT but i cant recall if it was foreign or not, it prolly was, gols and tanks on the high ground with goons and sairs to keep your opponent off it was pretty strong

i saw artosis with someone where they went medic blind with dts

the point is now you wont see this kind of stuff in a pro game if you prefer something from the race match-up hallucinated ultras or even hallucinated guardians which is more realistic might even get an early GG lol
