  • We are learning this piece in our choir. I found it hard going until I found this clip, Beautiful, it has helped us to enjoy it so much. Thank you.

  • starts at 2:53

this reminds me of school choir!

  • This wonderful to sing. I know I enjoyed it in my choir.

  • OMG I'm in NYCoS and am in DYC. I recently did a concert with Cristopher Bell and am proud to be a part of this great organisation!

  • This is delightful ! My main interest is the pipes, though, and I follow the performances of the NYPBoS (National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland). I'm really looking forward to their new concert, "Illumination" on 23rd April at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow.

Keep up the good work !

  • I'm 11 and in teh NYCoS Senior training choir and I sung this at a recent concert!!

People dont realise how hard we train!!!!

  • I was at this :)

  • My choir does this, it is a totally stunning arrangement Xx

  • O just wow... I am welling up... my choir do this so beautifully

  • In tears. It's so beautiful. I sang this when i left school, the second verse as a duet with my best friend. It's so lovely, and i just think it really suits the song, and the words which mean so much.

  • I new this version first & love it! I don't like the original as much and this version makes me cry!!!

  • Could anyone tell me where I can get the sheet music of this song for piano?

  • just try a search on Amazon.

Either that, or any music website.

  • I LOVEEEE this piece.

    I've been searching for it.

We sung it in a choristers festival at Liverpool Met cathedral last year.

  • we're singing this at the moment and I love it!

  • As i'm watching this I've just found one of the people who was one of our house staff. Fiona umm... I can't remember her last name but she is the group of singers you see first, in the black.

  • I'm in the National Girls Choir of Scotland 2009 and we have just finished our 5 day resedential!! I can't wait til we perform in the Aberdeen Youth Fesitival and Glasgow Prom in the Park!!! YEY!!

  • I swear at 4:00 It's only Ali that's singing

  • The bestest.

  • I was a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland in 1996/1997 and I was very proud to find this on You Tube! The choir sounds as fantastic as ever.

  • i was there! in the childrens choir (in blue)

  • 2:52 - Youtube link for when the piece starts

  • the real tune is clearly better

  • but this one has a canon!!!!!

  • i love this setting we're just doing it now with my choir and it's just so beautiful...

  • goregous arrangement - i tend to like modern hymns/arrangements better and I love this - it is so beautiful!

  • I was all ready to say how you can't beat the old tunes, but this is just beautiful - the best setting yet. As he says - a gift!

  • 2.50 ish is where it really gets going :)

  • yay! i was there in a black top too! what is your name i might know you. mine is caitlin XD

  • My sister's in this choir, and i love hearing her singing, she's got a beautiful voice, and i'm so proud of her!

  • I prefer above all Hyfrydol to these words, but Pennant and Moriah are also great settings for it. This version is great for the 100 strong choir, but I wonder how well it would sound with just two or three or one person singing alone to a simple accompaniment? That's where the old tunes show their worth.

  • It actually sounds really good with just one on a part and piano accompaniment - providing you have strong singers who can hold a part on their own!

  • it was a great that!!! i think everyone that sang there will fell the same. i am in the falkirk youth choir and i can safly say that everyone enjoyed themself!!! when you here all of nycos (inc area choirs)togeather it is absouloutly awsome! great sound!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Goosebumps everytime I listen to it...

  • hey that was lovely i was thr and siting watching u all sing it was amazing .. i am from the younger .. falkirk nycos and one day hope to sing just like the people you see in this video .. beautifull x

  • Speaking of Howard Goodall, I like his voice when he sings the four-square Wesley hymn!

  • In the shower? Wow, man.

  • Just lovely. That girl at 5:00 has the most beautiful hair. The kids in the audience were almost eerily arranged..

    beautiful job

  • Dear NYCOS members! You are all wonderful as is your conductor Christopher!I feel so lucky to have worked with him in RSNO while living in my beloved Scotland. Now I am back in Hungary and would like to thank you for coming to us this summer and giving a wondrful concert! We shall revist you and give a concert with our mixed choir in St Aloysious on 23 Oct at 7:30pm see you there? :-)

  • It was in Glasgow City Halls. Fun stuff, even if it was Songs of Praise.

  • i was in the dumfries choir there.....thank god i wasnt in shot!!!LOL

  • Does anyone know where this was recorded? It looks like St Georges Hall in Bristol although I may be wrong.

  • It was the City Halls in Glasgow, I was there - I'm in the front row of the National Boy's Choir (the blue shirts).

  • I think this is absolutely fantastic....I saw this the other week and it is so lively compared to some of the other arrangements...does anyone know where I could get a copy of this arrangement on CD or ideally SACD/DVD Audio?

  • ooooooooooo i see jennifer... i think... lol :)

  • The whole place was filled with NYCoS singers; NYCoS, their Training Choir, all the Area Choirs, The National Boys Choir and the Changed Voices Choir. About 1200 I think... And that's not including the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
