and insist that gives you license to African culture but then can disqualify other Africans throughout the diaspora. WOW! Have you not validated my concerns? I have questioned, in terms of criticisms, please look at the labels and emotional responses of those who have responded to me on this page including yourself. Did you not start off by labeling me a Xenophobe? I've label nor insulted anyone, I did express a resonable concern and substantiated it
Religions that have differences only because of European conquest. What ever they may get wrong they can be nothing but honored to have retained what they could under oppression and prosecution. Why would you be above reproach sir? And who are you to decide who "GENUINE" Africans are. You sir, seemingly with a knowledge of all things African can say in one breath that there are no distinctions amongst people
She did not say purity, why you bring someone else into the conversation when you and odukeeper are the one are talking,,,I can see you dont know anything about IFA...are you Catholic???
Excuse me Yolandro101,,,but sounds like you are a racist person,,,didn't your mom teach you manners,,,have some respect,,,or is it that you like for people to correct like a little child,,,MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS~
You cannot parse reality. ALL humankind originated in Africa...environmental adjustments in color and physiology do not change that. Quit confusing bad character with skin color or nation of origin.
...Not confusing anything, and exactly how did I "parse" reality. All humankind did originated from Africa, however, that's never stopped anyone from violating it and it's people. Stating that someone descended from from somewhere millions of years ago does not justify usurping the riches of that place. Does this fact give you carte blanche to then do as you please with it or anything African? In a thousand years will anyone know that the Yoruba were Black?
People have violated EVERY country, religion and gender. It is NOT a religious issue, it is a character issue. Ifa teaches good character, not revenge. Hopefully, in 1000 years we will all have gotten over the color nonsense.

Sir, who spoke of revenge? My issue is conquest and distorting context, understanding the context of conquest I'm sure the next 1000 years will mirror the last 3000 years if African people don't learn from the past. Is it good character to immerse yourself into something that is not yours and was not designed for your genetic/ancestral profile? Is that respect? A culture, any culture is the property of the unborn and enlighten deceased of that culture. How do you factor into this?
A philosophy cannot be "owned"...nor was it meant to be. Your logic would suggest that all of Einstein's theorems could only be used by white European Jews.
IF you understood the Philosophy of Ifa you would kow it is about inclusion, not exclusion.

Einstein wasn't an initiate, he was a scienctist, his temples were the various schools of science were theories were formed, debated and frequently updated. Ifa is a culture complete with a heirarchy(Kingship-Queenship), priesthood, ancestory, populous, and Deities that govern/guide the collective consciousness. It is and was a living, evolving institution, it was not open for all to partake nor did it advertise membership as membership was established by birthright like most traditions.
We are speaking of ideas and concepts which cannot be "owned" by any particular group. If you have trouble with the Einstein metaphor, how about Jesus. Were his teachings culturally restricted? Also, the Yoruba were famous for adopting ideas and orisa from other cultures...Sango being a simple example. THEY were intelligent enough that if they came upon something meaningful, they adopted it. Finally, Ifa has no King or Queen...the political structure appointed many Ifa priests for guidance..
When others come forth and attempt to remove that process either through imposing their beliefs ( christan or islamic conquest) or emulating those the traditions themselves the collective consciousness of the people is violated. Respectfully sir, you're reaching and saranwraping your beliefs and philosophy around something all already established to suit you.
Respectfully madam, you are wrong. Do you view the collective consciousness as a series of isolated groups by color, race, nationality or gender? Hardly a logical conclusion . The very universe, which must be seen as a representation of Oludumare's preferences is all about diversity and inclusion.

Respectfully sir, you have never substantiated you are correct and me being wrong is your perception. Logic is a funny thing to inject into a conversation about spiritual development and since where using metaphors I will compare the collective consciousness of groups to grade school. Not many go from 1st grade to graduate school, do they? There's a marked difference.
If Ifa which as you say is for everyone to jump into and do as they will, why did they not send out emissaries beyond west African, why didn't any of the traditional religions. Did Ifa recruit the invading Europeans or did they inject themselves. Oh, and their a hierarchy at play within Ifa, and it is mirrored in the "political" structure of the populous, is it not. As above so below.
Of course they went beyond West Africa. As travel became possible, Yoruba Babalawo traveled all over the Earth. I met Afolabi Epega, a fifth generation Ifa Priest in Chicago, and dozens more all over America and Europe.
And, please don't use logic to disprove logic...Ayn Rand referred to that as the "stolen premise", it is intellectually unsound and manipulative. Logic is not only NOT antithetical to religion, it is an imperative!
@ Yolandra, you are 100% correct. Culture bandits, no matter how they try to massage it.

There aren't any Black or Native Druid cults out there, no effigies of a Black Thor or Hera are there?
