  • Yes and no. After 3 days of putting a blue hippo tang in my tank, it started getting ick (looks like someone sprinkled salt on him) to the point of 90% covered his body. He swam and ate fine but looked like shit. I bought a 15 watt UV sterilizer and in 24 hours, he started to look better and by the 3rd day, 90% of the ick disappeared. So, I am a total believer in UV sterilization but I think it has to be at least 15 watts. He's now a year old and grew from 3 to 4 inches so far.

  • Great tank! Did have a hard time acclimating the "delicate pain in the wallet " awesome hippo tang? 8)

  • @Groundskeeperman The regal blue tang should be in a big tank with 8 square footprint because he loves to swim. This would be a 125 gallon tank with builtin overflow OR a wide 100 gallon without builtin overflow.
