@WeAreProWrestling "Ludicrous as this may read, Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious was an incredibly dramatic battle, with intense crowd heat from start to finish, Sid juiced a gusher & really cranked up the tension" - Powerslam (Issue 65 December 1999)
**1/4 match rating - PW Torch Newsletter (Issue 573 30th October 1999)
7 out of 10 match rating - Canoe.ca (25th October 1999)
Those ratings didn't infulence my opinion at all. Awesome big man match between two over marquee stars.
On paper this PPV looks pretty damn good, Eddie vs Saturn; Hogan vs Sting the Tag team match, Rick Steiner vs Benoit, Luger vs Bret Hart. Goldberg vs Sid and DDP vs Flair and Goldberg vs Sting, throw some filler and it looks like a pretty damn good ppv on PAPER, however russo being the swerve swerve sob he is, manages to fuck it up
Halloween Havoc in 1999 was just a mess with Russo's 1st PPV Booking. I dunno why they did the Sting/Goldberg Title Match only to hold it up going into Mayhem with the 32 Man Tournament.
I'll argue the Goldberg matches were both entertaining.. Goldberg beating Sid to a bloody pulp and Sid refusing to give up was good stuff.. at least 2 1/2 stars.. and Goldberg vs. Sting had a sick ending with Goldberg hurdling Sting and then spearing the hell out of him when Sting came back off the opposite rope.. at least 2 stars
Going into this PPV I hadn't been watching WCW since May.. and I was really amped after learning that night.. Goldberg had won the WCW title.. then they went and made the victory unofficial.. to me.. say what you want killed WCW.. but I think a sound Goldberg WCW title reign into 2000 would've salvaged WCW for at least a little while longer... I don't what you say in 1999 & 2000 the 3 biggest wrestling stars were Austin, Rock & Goldberg.. and Goldberg was the only answer they had to WWF
@AWAChamp619 Sting issued an open challenge for the title, which was answered by Goldberg. Goldberg was originally awarded the title, but the title change was voided due to the match being unsanctioned. Then, JJ Dillon stripped Sting of the title due to him attacking referee Charles Robinson during the match.
half a * for Goldberg vs. Sid?
Are you for real?

We are getting closer to the death of WCW.

Why did Goldberg and Sting fought in a Unscantioned match? It should have been for the WCW title.

@Tubewings That was Vince Rusoo booking, right? A open challenge should mean the match was sanctioned.

@AWAChamp619 Sometimes I wonder why Russo still has a job in professional wrestling.
Or why anyone would even hire him after he helped destroy WCW.
Tubewings 4 months ago
@Tubewings He got hired by TNA because he was friends with Jeff Jarrett, and his dad Jerry Jarrett owned TNA at the time.

To myslef, this PPV is a guilty pleasure aside from the 3 min. ME, the Hogan Match, and the finish to BA vs Alex Wright.
