for pure tone I like the ds 1 for heavy distortion and for boutiquey overdrive would get a ibanez ts-808 or ts-9 or possibly a blues driver. That combo gives you a lot of options
If you don't have really high end amps and guitars or price is a concern, go for the OS-2..it does both distortion and overdrive surprisingly well and you can blend them.
The BYOC overdrive makes this unit sound like SHIT!! trust me people! the BYOC is less than half the price of the OD-20! and it nails the true analog sound of many classic pedals! and its true bypass! doesn't do fuzz but what are you after?? great overdrive or a unit thats using fancy to sell itself :)
@josephscott80 joke by what means? Maybe he is exaggarating a bit with those pedals/amps and maybe he does sound damn cheesy but hes mild guitar player and thats all what matters. It might not be the most pleasant voice to listen but atleast you understad what he is talking about.
@josephscott80 Meant to say mint. I mean, it has been pointed out so many times that this guy does funny facial expressions, but they dont lower his skills, so I would show a bit more respect.
this is a 85mV 9V pedal any brick should run it. The DD-20 requires an exact 200mV supply. This is a Digital pedal modeler and to be honest on some it does a better job because you have more tone control adjustment and enhancement. Like the Big Muff, it sounds better, thicker and more artciulate on this pedal. I am liking these dual Boss pedals I plan to pick this one up. I love the ability to store 4 different pedal settings. The DD-20 Gigadelay is the best delay,
The TS9 and the FullDrive and the Centa are about 80% of the real deal. It's very nice to switch between the three. I own many of the actual pedals and the OD-20 surprised me...pretty good. That octave down feature that only works on the low srings is neat. You play a riff up high and it's normal playing. You play a riff down low and it shakes the room with the octave down. I use a tiny hint of it on my 4th preset. Fun stuff. I got mine used/cheap. Fun pedal.
I have this pedal, and I'm never gonna give away or sell it.
First I wasn't really satisfied, when I played it through my small combo. But once I tried to connect it right to the mixing desk, and huge Crown power amp/ JBL speakers... It was awesome, it sounded 1000 times better! Just perfect! So, I guess, it's a great pedal for the gigs...
I'd even say, better than for anything else. "Tubescreamer" and "Full-Drive" sounds are actually the best among all the overdrives that you can get from this pedal - they sound very, very warm and natural. And, if you need Gary Moore's heavy sound - "Guv'nor" pedal imitation is my third favorite among these 22 types of overdrive.
It may seem like I'm advertising this pedal, but I'm not :)
hey! the OD20 is like an overdrive/distorsion stompbox, but with many types of overdrives, somrthing like a simulator. it doesnt provide any clean sound, maybe slightly crunchy but not CLEAN. now the boss me20 is a basic multieffect, it has overdrive & distorsion simulation (not as good as the ones in the od20 i guess) + effects like delay, compression, etc... but no amp simulation. in both cases the pedals wont give u any clean signal unless u switch them off & play only through ur amp.
for good clean tones, check the line 6 PODs or the zoom G series. & theyre not too expensive. or if you prefer boss check out the ME 70 which has a nice preamp section with clean tones.
If price is no object, go for the 0d-20. It has some great metal sounds. there are six distortions on this pedal made for the od20. one of them is metal. if you use that and turn the bottom knob to 12 oclock or more, it sounds very heavy. i have a demo where you can see a bunch of sounds on it. im a bit out of tune though. i also demo the mt2 model.
A tip for owners of this pedal. use the bottom knob. turn it up past 12 oclock. it gives you something to stand on and makes this pedal sound absolutely great.
I have it. It sounds too thin, even running through a thick sounding Carvin Master Tube half stack and a marshall cab with celestion g12s. I thought it would be a good combination but its not.
i dunno, you haven't even tried it. you should like or dislike something not b/c it is digital or analog, you should like it/dislike for how it sounds. there are plenty of digital pedals that suck and plenty or analog pedals that suck...
i was gonna get this and a big muff. do you think there is even a point getting a big muff. or does this pedal basically have a similar effect built in?
I want this video on my my210x phone.

So... you meant to write "hes mint guitar player"?
That makes sense.
(That does not make sense.)
I can't see a comment on this page referring to his facial expressions apart from the one I posted yesterday.
Thank you for telling me you'd show a bit more respect; I was wondering what you'd do.
Oh, I don't consider noisy guitar masturbation to be a skill.
