  • @tarfu34 Hi, so you are smart, eh? About the cod, I wanted to tell you the effects of the cod depletion on Newfoundland's economy and the people who depended on this 'renewable resource'(not whether it could evolve or not???). The moratorium changed Newfoundland forever. For quite a long time, inshore fishermen noticed a decrease in cod catch, but the warning signals were dismissed by the DFO. Scientists tried to tell the DFO to enforce more strict regulations, but they ignored them.

  • @tarfu34 It is true that sometimes scientists will make a situation seem far worse than it is, but it better to be more aware, than not aware enough. (and by the way- I was not referring to this video when I wrote my comment about the bluefin. I just like copied and pasted.) Peace.

  • @1nerdykid damn! your comments are all over bluefin tuna videos ..! good job boy

  • @Weck1one hi! thanks! The current exploitative activities towards our oceans are unsustainable, and will ultimately lead to the collapse of one of our most vital ecosystems. We have such short lives but we can make a huge difference. If we have the capability of destroying the world, we are also capable of saving it. -The duration of life is unimportant, but rather the way we live it is what matters-We can live life so happily, but we also have responsibilities as temporary guests on earth.Peace

  • put on a rod harness stop fighting him like your using a whench hes not gonna pull you over i fought 600 pound fish that havent even come close to pulling me over

  • fuaaaaaaaaaaaa sacate un pescaditojaja

  • Major respect to you guys.

  • Is that a Penn international 80wide?

  • I caught 4 tuna in a day

  • dont yall have to worry about sharks?

  • Sweet sizes! Nice day for it, too.

  • where do you catch these? I have always wanted to fish bluefin but I live in florida. I stick to dolphin and wahoo.

  • Have you ever seen the size of the stock that appears off the cape each year. more and more fish are coming back every year. the stock is huge

fighting a fish out of a rod holder is pure commercial, id like to see an average person go stand up with 40lbs of drag. you'd fly overboard.

lastly all the bluefin landed by rec guys casting spinning rods, are all dead. idc if you spend an hour reviving a fish, those things are so burnt from lactic acid, there fried. mortality of rec catches is amazing

  • I didnt know you can fish out elephants from the ocean

  • ill be your deckhand any day!!!!!!

  • And to everyone talking shit about using the rod holder, those swivel holders are made foe this, that is how you fish for these commercial, it is not about the sport, it's about a short fight so you don't burn out the fish and ruin the meat. Recreational fishermen shouldn't have a thing to say about how a commercial fisherman does his job.

  • what rod and reel are you using? and what lb test is the line

  • all you "save the fish" asshole need to shut the fuck up, you dont know shit about commercial fishing. You fucking rec people kill more fish than us. Go on the website and look at the rec. numbers..you guys are fucking rediculous.

    @Mr.Joseph228 those are 130's

  • Is your boat a duffy?

  • nice catch guys

  • I guess all the tree huggin save the whales mofos want us all to become vegetarians... Ummmm FUCK YOU. nice catch. I woulda only kept one. A huge blue like that is more than enough to split between yall. Just my two cents. Sweet catches though!

  • thats really amazing, Iam from Hawaii and we catch yellowfins, but we handline for them. I'd love to handline one of those Gaints......

  • what type of reel is that with the numbers on it

  • Educate yourself. Bluefin tuna stocks are collapsing - maybe beyond recovery - and the governments of the world are just trying to make sure they get their 'fair share' before they are all gone. The current best estimates are that there are only 9000 large bluefins left in the Western stock of the North Atlantic. If you care at all about these magnificent fish - from one fishermen to another: Let them be.

  • your all lucky if you have them where you are the uk dont have them at all !!! why??? i do know we have been getting yellow fins around but no blue fin as yet many many many years ago we had blue fins yellow and the sailfish but very very rare now can hope and prey we get um once again? the bait fish are coming back so hope

  • Stop making excuses you dingleberry eatin' dong tip wrestlers. Just because a fucked up bullshit government agency says it's ok to take these animals, you know fucking well that it ain't right and when you add up all the fags like you and all the sharks, longliners, trawlers and every fucking thing else that kills these beautiful fish, the numbers are way off, in terms of way off on the negative side. You excuse makin, money hungry faggots are the reason the earth won't have any bluefins left!!!

  • @caneyforkriverman First of all, recreational fisherman kill way more fish than commercial, second, how dare you ridicule someone who has found a way to make money in these hard times. Every fish that is caught and sold in this country is one less that has to be imported. Commercial fishing is one of the hardest ways to make a living and we don't get paid nearly as much for tuna as we used to....

  • @caneyforkriverman So how's this, enough with your leftover hippie generation bullshit, go hug a fucking tree and don't worry about what us commercial fisherman are doing. We are doing our part to help the economy in this country while we are being critisized by ignorant assboles like you, rant and rave as much as you want, I think I speak for all commercial fisherman when I say we don't care what you think, go hug a fucking tree then hang yourself from it, I am sick of you fucking hippies.

  • You stupid motherfuckers make me sick!!! Goddamn idiots, making fucking excuses for taking such a beautiful creature as this. I have hunted and fished all of my life and as a true sportsman, I have learned to only take what I eat. In the name of a goddamn dollar??? What the fuck is wrong w/ you faggots. When you hook these magnificent creatures, all you see is dollar signs!!! Do the world a favor and go dive into a bunch of great whites, you pussy, rodholder usin', overfishing pukebag queers!!!!

  • nice fattys what a bad ass day

  • boy to bad we cant do that every day nice work keep that video camera running

  • aresftfun the bite that has been going on for the past two months has been epic and you are ann ass hole we do this for a living to make money un like your pussy ass desk job you fucking dumb ass and the state and wild life management services can say what ever they want but i have heard and experienced the bite rite now and its not like it has been the past years guys are limiting out every trip get your facts rite you bark eating cock munching piece of shit!!!

  • Please, everyone do NOT support Albacore charters out of Nantucket. They pollute and poach every chance they get. Those of us on the west coast are watching you.

  • Bluefin in the western atlantic? All bluefin stocks are mixed with bluefin from EVERY ocean. Bluefin tuna will not be here in 100 years. I can see you don't care and I'll be sure to have my grandkids thank your grandkids for taking what you did. Commercial fisherman in the united states are themselves an endangered species because of their own actions.

  • Tell shalako jonas blondieboat says hi

  • i wish they suffer like that tuna..............

  • What the FUCK are you doing? Do you even KNOW how many giant bluefin tuna are left in the ocean? You don't do you? They are expensive, delicious, and in high demand, but their numbers are SO few compared to 1950 that you should deplore catching them. You make me sick. Research things before you go killing endangered species.

  • your a real jackass i hope someday what you do to these creatures happens to you...lol the only fish your ever getttin is tuna....you neeeda get laid bud!

  • good tuna

  • thats a big ass fish

  • What kinda boat are u guys in?

  • honestly i can't kill a fish so big. just think how long it will take for another to replace the one you killed. but if it is your job you have to do it.

  • Catch it without keeping the pole in the holder XD. I'd like to see that.

  • so you guys don't brain spike them?

  • why did you leave them in the water for a while?

  • @nysuperbee1970 you need to drown them

  • @nysuperbee1970

They say they actually get warm enough fighting to ruin the meat if you kill them right away. It's best to keep them alive as long as possible and cool back down.

  • u need 3 700lb fish?...stupid idiots

  • just what u stupid fcks need is three bluefin that size...no wonder there going...going...gone. footage is stupid humans. i'd charter a boat that wanted to perserve their stock not flaunt it...sad.

  • how the heck u clean those suckers

  • that u call fishing? whats the point, fighting them that way?? atleast pull the freaking rod over.

  • @cyrun Try it more of an adrenaline rush than you'll ever believe trying to reel in 800lb tuna. You can fight them for hours and get nowhere, other rods wont handle the enormous strain put on it when fighting tuna that big...its like hooking onto the back of a semi's bumper.

  • that u call fishing? whats the point, fighting them that way?? atleast pull the freaking rod over.

  • how much did you get for these?

  • quero ve tu sigura isso ai no braço!!!!

desse geito ai ate meu cachorro faiz!!!!!!!!

  • Bluefin is about to extinct,,,,,stop fishing these beautiful creatures..

  • did sharks ever steal your fish?

  • for god's sake man, why dont you just use a winch?

  • Rod + Rod holder = Cheating!

Come on lads, where's the fun in that?

  • Unless you do not enjoy eating Bluefin Tuna I don't think anyone should bitch about the Alantic Fishermen endangering Tuna Stocks. Because Japan is where most of the Bluefin is going to. People over there buy millions of pounds of it.

  • are you commercial or can people come with for the day fishing.. and where are you,,, fantastic.. paul in wales

  • can you say pay check haHAHA

  • I am an avid fisherman and those are beautiful BFT's although honestly I believe there should be a complete worldwide ban on harvesting them. The stock is at less than 10% of it's historic levels. They will go commercially extinct at the current rate. Let them rebuild especially those larger models so the stock can recover. It's disgusting what the world has done to this once plentiful pelagic.

  • You dont know what you are taking about. The bluefin stocks in the western atlantic are tightly regulated. If the stock were at 10% like you say the fishery would be closed. I suggest that you check you facts before running your mouth. Go to the University of New Hampshire website and search Bluefin tuna you might be surprised what you find out. like the fact that rec. fisherman kill way more bluefins then commercial fisherman in the United States

  • Oh really, then why have scientists from ICCAT said that spawning stocks on both sides of the Atlantic for bluefin have fallen to LESS than 15% from historical levels??? ICCATsets the regs. You are also aware I'm sure that the west atlantic bluefins are highly migratory mixing with the Medit population. The tagging studies clearly shows this. I love catching tuna as much as the next guy but we all want to have an opportunity to catch a bluefin one day, let the stock recover, it's being decimated.

  • hahaha..."running your mouth". You are a huge douchebag. And like someone said below, don't use the rod holder you big fukin pussy. I wish that there was a rating system that incorporated negative ratings. You get a -3.

P.S. But were all glad to see your finally able to count to 3. Good Job. Heres a hint for the next number.......it rhymes with "Door".

  • @albacore5074

technically TubeBoobforyou has a good point tuna stocks worldwide are at an all time low due to overfishing and environmental damage they are nonetheless a great sportfish so their numbers must be regulated if we want to be able to catch them in 50yrs time

  • @TubeBoobforyou dont believe everything you see on tv

  • @thejumpstartme Who said anything about TV? The Atlantic stocks co-mingle that has been proven scientifically though tagging studies. The European countries have grossly exceeded quotas and/or don't participate in ICCAT regulations and the stocks on that side of the pond are collapsing. I'm all for fishing Bluefin as long as the biomass is sustainable...

  • @TubeBoobforyou i would really like to know where your getting your information

  • @TubeBoobforyou your a true blue fucking retard

  • @vexedrex555 Ignorance is bliss....the stock is collapsing but I'm sure you wouldn't want those pesky little details to get in the way. Some of us actually believe in promoting sustainable fisheries....

  • @TubeBoobforyou You are correct. The Bluefin is at 7%. It may be tightly regulated in the US, but not everywhere.

  • Comment removed

  • @TubeBoobforyou even if you stop fishing them poeple will still pirate fish them.

  • u gays are pusys

  • i would love to see that rod holder break! ONE FOR THE BLUEFIN!

fighting from the rod holder is gay..

  • this is a great video we are gonna try for some giants this season in NJ we have heard some rumors that the population here is going up again.

  • shame on you for killing endangered species

  • @ crf230racer1 yea a fish is a fish, but its not as much of a fish when u catch it with zero effort

  • i thought it was limited to 2 bluefin for commercial and 1 for recreational??

How do i catch 3 bluefin and to sell?

  • When we caught these fish the limit was 3 per day. It was November 2008

  • nice.. how much did u sell it for? is the bluefin fishing like it was in 2008?

  • I think we averaged 7.00 a pound. The fishing was good this year but more spread out. We lost a lot of fish. The fish were very big. We hooked 17 and only landed 6. We did get one that weighed 1100lbs. Will be posting some new videos very soon.

  • @albacore5074

    wow 1100 lbs lol

i thought you can sell bluefin for more than that.. i was thinking it would sell for 15 and up lb or is this how much the wholesale gets?

  • @albacore5074

do you mean hooked 17 fish that day and landed 6.. wow if that is 1 day

  • @albacore5074

i may have to come visit you and check out the charters

  • @rps13sr

When you say lost, do you mean that they got off the hook or got eaten by sharks or something?

  • @albacore5074 Do the clients get to keep any of the fish; I heard they were too valuable and that you can catch em, but not keep em. Is that true?

  • great fishing guys. nice catch. bluefins are pricey in japan! yummy sashimi!!

  • they arent worried about having fun fighting these fish, they are out there to make money, thats why they fight them in the rod holder

  • This looks like fun. Need a deckhand for the summer? haha

  • must be fun to let a rod holder catch a fish, i bet it makes you feel proud of yourself lol. try catching one of those suckers stand up and then post a video, this aint anything to be proud of buddy

  • @bdron33 where are all of your videos???? a fish is a fish.

  • cgcg7373: If you wanna blame a group of people for bluefin being endangered it is a waste of time to point the finger at theseguys. Point the finger at the long line and trawling boats that not only decimate tuna but have horrible bycatch as well.

  • not a good sight guys.

  • slammin em man! quite the rod holder you got there. keep it up!

  • Great video, now those are some fish! Man I'd love to go catch some of those this winter. Must be quite a rush catching $6000+. You guys obviously know what you're doing and bleed/cool em behind the boat, but it's not necessary to cut the tail to help bleed them? Just curios cause I know from Halibut fishing you can cut the gills right out of one and the meat still has a pink tinge, stab the gills and cut the skin on one side of the tail and break the vertebrae and the meat is pure white.

  • striped bass season sucked this year. nobody got the limit

  • where were you fishing man. The season was decent. didnt limit everyday but definitly had some good 30 fish days

  • my uncle and i went the first 2 days nantucket towards.....ill get the info but then we just went from sesuit and denis. then P town than tryd nantucket again the last day wasnt worth it so we go in and go out of sesuit and on the last day i got myself a pretty nice 30 lber :D

  • morrons....u might be able to free rod a 2-300 pounder,i would love to watch a 800-1000pounder drag your stupid asses over, these guys had a wicked day, good job guys, hope u got a good price!!!,i'll b off souris oct. 5,rods in the holders....and u bet ur ass were sellin em!

  • OK everyone here is the deal. We are commercial fishing these fish. This is how I make a living. When we are are on a charter we fish the rod from a chair. Before the fish killed we swim it to cool it down, then its bled and towed backwards before being brought aboard. Iced and shipped to Japan within 24 hrs. These fish were worth over $6000 each. In the last 10 years I have caught over 150 giant and to may small bluefins to count. I didn't post this video to start a holy war. Enjoy it.

  • Catch that quota captain. You boys are badass for sure. Is that rod holder something you built or did you buy it ? I fish the general category in my Wayne Beal 36' but can't keep anything. All our fish are less than 73" around here. I'm going to Angling category for next year. Catch 'em up.

  • Was the catch limit 3 BFT/day when you caught them? I know it is 2/day now for commercial. Thanks for the video it really captures the power of the fish. I wouldn't want to be holding the rod in my hands. I think I'd lose a lot of poles and reels.

  • Beautiful fish! Great video, can't imagine how that belly meat would taste. By the way fight those stand up and pretty much you've burned the meat! So what is the point of taking the fish in the first place?

  • 6 and half hrs no harness just a gimble penn 50 w 80lbs mono back with 350 yrds of spectra..644lbs bluefin.thats fishing ddwmc

  • Bluefin are incredibly endangered. If you're going to take 3 fish, then take 3 juveniles, not 3 breeding adults. I'm an avid fisherman, but I also have common sense enough to realize that even though I CAN take a fish, maybe I shouldn't. If people would just have self moderation for even just 3 years, we could all catch the giants for a while!

  • You may want to go to Dennis Braid's website. He has caught giant bluefin tuna standup stlye..

So, your statements don't hold ground for me..

Whats the point of angling if the boat catches the fish for you ???

    Jeff

  • this is for the morons that think they should fight a bluefin tuna stand up style.u would be pulled the fuck over and drowned yellowfin tuna are trout compared to them i personally have been fishing tuna for 30 years .the pole doesnt come out of the wash board for a reason try to hang on to a race horp thats pissed off with a rope in ur hand and see how lone ur standing up.i have seen some of these fish take over 24 hours to land are u gonna hold the rod that long assclown.think before u puke.up

  • dennis braid did it and it only took him about 4 hours.

international or tiagra 130 wide loaded with spectra, no problem, will kill any bluefin out ther. just put the sucker in low gear and grind!

  • If you aren't going to fight it stand up, at least using a chair would be more sporting. Fighting a fish out of a rod holder is essentially using a winch, which in sportsfisherman's eyes is definitely not sporting.

  • oh yea, have you ever fought one of these fuckin things?? if you havent then you have no fuckin idea what its like.

  • Try it stand up... you are lucky that you have access to that grade of fish..

Your angling skills are minial unless you fish it stand up style.. whats next for you electric reels ?

Try fishing Long Range Style in San Diego for giant yellowfin from an anhcored boat with 24 other anglers..

    That is the ultimate challenge...

    Good day..

    Jeff

  • the ultimate challenge? to pay a hundred dollars on a party boat , and jig on pacific yellowfin. and their is no way they are "giant yellowfin." the ultimate challenge is to trick a thirty year old 120 inch blue fin that has seen more of the ocean than a weekend warrior like you can even amagine. by the way for a head boat to be coast gaurd certified it has to have 48 inch rails all the way around. so your little stand up battle was half on the gaurd rail. good day

  • We do catch bluefin here in the Pacific.. just not of the same size..

Understand that we fish for giant yellowfin in open water, not in the shallows like the East coast blufins.

Also, there may be 24 other anglers lines in the water to work around, also the boat will not chase any fish.. its mano et mano..

No rod holders.. you vs the fish.. and we don't sell our fish..

  • I'm not that impressed...

You guys never took the rod out of the holder.. big Fing deal... you are catching the fish with the boat...

Try fishing it standup style, then I will tip my hat off to you...

I bet you sell your fish as well ??????? maybe you are a comercial fisherman ???

Yes, you will need to hold your own rod..

    Jeff

  • youre a tard i have caught a 90 kilo tuna myself and the power in these fish is unbelievable you would be unable to hold the rod given that theyre probably running over 50 kgs of drag

  • this is like whaling

  • awesome fishing boys

  • good catch :)

  • you chicken fight like a man . hold that rod in your hands and get a fighting chair !

  • 35 cents a pound? probably not huh?

  • That is some serious fishing. Nice job.

  • pro....

  • the three wisemen, great line

was this the chatham bite in nov????

  • Yes it was the week before thanksgiving!

  • what pound test is on the rods/leaders.

  • 200lb test

  • I like the action on those rods, who made those? 80 lb blanks?
