I used to live next to my aunt and every so often my mom and my aunt would get together and sort out the socks because we would always hang out at each others houses and leave our shoes there all the time. (Or there is a teleporter from one dryer to the next)

I found out were my missing socks go. My cat steals them. I usually will cram my socks into my shoes when I take them off, and I come back to find one missing. Or I set my clothes out on the bed, and when I get out of the shower, everything is there but my socks.

I eventually caught the sock monster in action, it is my cat. She'll grab a sock and hide it. I don't know were she's taking them either because I have lots of unmatched socks. I hope she's not eating them.

Well I can't really answer those questions. All I know is that they have a producer which tries to sum up how much they'll need. They have to pay the channel for airing their shows.

They are undoubtedly being paid handsome shares, but since the people on discovery channel shows are more of a vessel for the entertainment provided by the myths rather than being the actual entertainment like an actor in a TV drama or something, they don't make the huge numbers that, say, a cast member of the show "Desperate Housewives" or another popular show.
