Rumsfeld was correct in his response. The interviewer was being very forceful with somebody willing to discuss very sensitive subjects. He kept asking leading questions and occupying most of the talking time.
This clip is taken out of context. If you bother to watch the full 30 minute interview, you can see why Rumsfeld finally got frustrated with this interviewer. The interiewer continued simply rephrasing the same inane questions over and over in an attempt to get an answer he was looking for, after Rumsfeld had already several times repeated his straightforward answers to them.

And also, the main reason I say that it's not extremist is there was a concerted attempt in the early days of the Iraq and Afghani invasion to paint an image that Al Jazeera was somehow an extremist tv station or it was in someway linked to Al Queda or other radicals in the Middle East, where in fact, Al Jazeera is very similar to any Western station whereas it is owned by massive multinationals, gas, oil ect. just like any FOX, MSNBC ect. and that influences its content just the same way

Based on geography, which perspective seems more legitimate concerning the Middle East? I'm not saying I think you're wrong, but I do think understanding perspective is important when deciding the issue.

As much as I don't like Rumsfeld, He was in the right. He was shown little if any respect from the reporter. That sure doesn't call for the childish argument that followed. I believe that both are in the wrong. Funny thing is that not long after 911 Americans were calling for revenge and the war on terror. This clip is taken out of context. If you bother to watch the full 30 minute interview, you can see why Rumsfeld finally got frustrated with this interviewer. The interiewer continued simply rephrasing the same inane questions over and over in an attempt to get an answer he was looking for, after Rumsfeld had already several times repeated his straightforward answers to them.
