  • arkansaw is best state

  • With all respect to this man.

Can we get these episodes with Subtitles.

  • "skint"

    epic talk

  • @marketharry

It's much better to call the opposing sniper on his cell and ask him to send your his GPS coordinates. From there you can enter them into your GPS and figure out where he is. If he's a sport, he will pop smoke for you (color of your choice).

  • 4 godforsaken days of crawling. Sniper Wolf gotz nuttin on him

  • Carlos=hardass

  • This man, this... warrior, applied many common skills of the Native Americans, and if he hadn't trained or apprenticed from them directly I'm sure he in the least had become familiar with their techniques of stealth, stalking, tracking, and focus. He was a machine of perfection in the battlefield, and if not employed by the government he'd have made a remarkable assassin. Literally born to kill.

  • @IceXMan87 YES HE DID!! CARLOS WAS FROM A PART OF THE COUNTRY WHERE U HAVE A LOT OF NATIVE AMERICANS BREEDED INTO THE WHITE AND BLACK POPULATION IN CENTRAL ARKANSAS--MODERN HUNT'IN IN SOUTHERN STATES IS PASSED DOWN---THE NATIVE AMERICAN TECHNIQUES WERE GIVEN TO THESE PEOPLE LONG AGO AND IT WAS MIXED WITH MILITARY TACTICS TO CREAT WHAT CARLOS WAS IN A NUTSHELL---THE BEST OF THESE IN HISTORY!!!

  • @BubbaLee2

WHERE THEY TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS

  • @BigDTinyE AMEN BROTHER! THANKS!

  • What an incredible man. There's nobody else like this guy or anybody with this type of experience.

  • "MISTAKE!" hahaha

  • It is my understanding that they were indeed, going to send someone on this mission. All Carlos was told was that there was a dangerous mission, one that he more than likely would not survive. He was asked to

make a decision without knowing any information about the mission, or even where it was. He was not coerced, and it would have been easy for him to turn it down since he was so short. Of course they knew Carlos' character and they knew he would not refuse the mission. Please correct me if

  • its more remarkable for carlos to stay hidden around all those patrols than hitting the general at 700 yards in my opinion--he was almost stepped on many times

  • MISTAKE. *I love that part*

  • I can't even begin to imagine what that poor 19 year old kid endured at the hands of Apache. I hope the military somehow kept the gruesome details of his death from his family. It's no wonder that Sgt. Hathcock considered taking her out as being "very personal".

  • @luv4allmusik now you are starting to understand why carlos is so beloved--he terminated the worse of the vc personal and their top snipers as well--if their was a chart 1-10 with 10 being giving to the most high valuled target being terminated carlos would be on top--simo hayha only killed regular russian personal---carlos terminated the evil one's and the top vc personal

  • @BubbaLee2 I just finished the Henderson book, and I am a bit confused about the 3 day mission Hathcock was sent on to take out a vc general. The U.S. brass gave him the option to turn down the mission, but of course they knew he wouldn't. The mission was a near impossible one. Is it fair to say that those that sent Hathcock gave him no better than a 5% or 10% chance of survival? Why would they send their best sniper on a suicide mission? Was the general THAT valuable a target? (cont)

  • @luv4allmusik CARLOS WAS UNDER JIM EDWARD LAND---SO CARLOS HAD HIS EAR AS WE SAY DOWN SOUTH--the vc general was a class a target meaning he was valuable--however it was gonna be a 1 shot thing---u miss then its all for not--carlos was the only 1 there who could make the shot--and carlos was 15 days from going home so this might be why they sent him--to get the last act out of him so to speak--anybody else would have got found before the shot---carlos was the #1 consealment sniper in world

  • @BubbaLee2 Carlos Hathcock was not "sent" to shoot the general. He volunteered for it because he knew they were going to send someone, and probably not him, since he was so short before going home. He volunteered because he knew that of all the snipers in Nam he alone had the best chance of pulling it off and getting out alive. And he was right.

  • @salamanca1954 i know that--u r playing on my words--he did volunteer however they were sending someone--so if u want to put it that way the more power to you!!

  • @BubbaLee2 Yes indeed, they were going to send someone no matter what, and they did ask him to go, but they didn't order him to. He could have gone home instead of undertaking that mission. So no, he didn't jump up and wave his hand and say "I'll do it." But he knew nobody else would have as good a chance of living through it as he would, so he went.

  • @salamanca1954 CARLOS DID NOT WANT HIS MEN TO GET KILLED AND HE KNEW WHAT THEY WERE FACING AND KNEW HE COULD COMPLETE THE MISSION WITH A LITTLE LUCK--HE ALWAYS HAD HIS FELLOW MARINE ON HIS MIND!!

  • @BubbaLee2 All it would have taken is for one vc on patrol to step on Hathcock and he was done for. And afterwards Hathcock himself questioned the mission, as the retaliation caused a great number of U.S. deaths. So yes, if anyone could pull of that mission it was Hathcock, but his odds of survival, even with his amazing skills, were extremely slim. So why send your best sniper on a suicide mission? That is the biggest question I have after reading the book.

  • @luv4allmusik WELL ITS BECAUSE HE WAS GOING HOME IN 15 DAYS ANYWAY I THINK

  • @BubbaLee2 Well I guess they couldn't foresee it, but even after he got home he did a lot to set up sniper schools and handbooks that are still used today.

  • @luv4allmusik BUT LETS NOT FORGET CARLOS SAVED 7 MARINES FROM SURE DEATH--THIS IS WHAT ENDED HIS WAR--HE WAS AWESOME!!

  • @BubbaLee2 And for that Bubba i am still working on getting his Silver Star upgraded to The Medal of Honor.

  • @remowil55 HEY FRIEND--GOOD REMO ,GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE STILL TRYING TO HELP THE CAUSE!!

  • @luv4allmusik YEAH IF THEY HAD KNOWN WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO THEY MIGHT NOT SEND HIM ON THAT MISSION--HE TRAINED MANY GOOD SNIPERS AND STARTED THE SNIPER SCHOOL IN VIRGINIA WHICH IS RESPECTED ALL OVER THE WORLD--CARLOS'S WAY STILL SAVES SNIPERS TODAY--HE WAS TRUELY A MAN AHEAD OF HIS TIME AS FAR AS CONSEALMENT IS CONCERNED!!

  • @BubbaLee2 Under your "valuable target" and "bad deeds" rating system, give Carlos 100 points for Apache. I can't imagine another human being as unmerciful as she was.

  • @luv4allmusik SHE GETS CARLOS A 10 ON THAT TERMINATION --YES!!!

  • @BubbaLee2 By the way, I like your 1-10 rating system for snipers. If Hathcock's sole mission was to take out "hamburgers", he certainly would have accumulated numbers like Hayha did. But Carlos took out the sons of bitches that needed to be eliminated.

  • @luv4allmusik YEAH YOU ARE RIGHT--HE HAD A NACK TO TERMINATE TO BEST ENEMY SNIPERS AND THE SIMO CROWD ONLY TALKS ABOUT NUMBERS THAT IS WHY I WANT THE NUMBER SYSTEM TO SEE WHO WAS THE BEST ONCE AND FOR ALL--THE HIGHER THE RANK THE HIGHER THE NUMBER--ALSO THE MORE BAD DEEDS THE BAD GUYS DO THE HIGHER THE RATING WHEN HE OR SHE IS TERMINATED

  • This man is amazing! I know he has passed away, but his legend will always live on.

  • Carlos volunteered to shoot the NVA general BECAUSE he believed he was the best in Vietnam at the time, even though he was about two weeks short. He did it because he believed that if ANYONE could pull off the shoot and get out alive, it was him, and he did NOT want anyone else to take that risk. His pride is a quiet one, but one that was rock solid, and dedicated to saving his comrades' lives. Nowhere is this more dramatically in evidence than in his 2nd tour rescuing his fellow marines.

  • @salamanca1954 ITS AN HONOR TO HEAR FROM A PERSON OF YOUR CALIBER ON SUCH A GREAT AMERICAN HERO!!

  • @BubbaLee2 I'm not so sure about MY caliber, but I sure am about Gunny Hathcock's.

  • fatdan1725101: Don't get me wrong, but if one of our modern snipers can launch a kill shot from 1.4 miles from a standard .50 caliber machine gun shooting standard ammo, I sure would like to see it. His usual weapon in his first tour was the Winchester 70, with match-grade ammunition. In his first shot, he actually hit the bicycle the guy had the guns on, and the guy stood up to start shooting blindly. The second shot he took the guy in the chest. Try that, modern snipers.

  • Doc, I just want to thank you for posting this incredible footage of one of my most esteemed soldiers. A man who mastered his craft as few have ever mastered it since. And his advice: "detail, detail, detail," was one that he noted in his own notebooks, every day, from his first day in the service to the last. People forget that our most famous scout/sniper was first assigned to MP duty in Vietnam, before he was plucked by Capt. Land to do what he was born to do.

  • Carlos Norman Hathcock RIP you did Good

  • I wish this man was still alive, I'd enjoy the pleasure of shaking his hand...

  • this man had balls

  • for anyone who dose not know..the "apache" woman he is talking about captured a us marine, pulled the nails off his toes and fingers, snapped all of his fingers and then cut his dick off with a machette and let him free to run back to base before collapsing infront off base at "the wire" perimeter and dieing...he was only 19 i think

  • @wodney69 The Apache had a habit of doing that to American and Vietnamese captives, at night, in easy hearing distance from the base so the screams would work on the base Marines all night long. She's the only one of Hathcock's hundreds of kills that he said he took personal satisfaction from.

  • @salamanca1954 yes sir

  • WHITE FEATHER! WHITE FEATHER!

  • Turned her head into a red mist. Nice.

  • american hero right here. i know he said he didn't like bad words but he killed a lot of fucking shitty people.

  • carlos hathcock the best

  • What a crack shot this man is..wow!! He saved many lives

  • 3:27 to 6:50 now that's an epic story! Dammit!

  • If i killed apache or cobra, I would have collected thier rifles as trophys

  • For those who haven't read the book, she tied that marine to a stake, naked, in the boiling sun, within hearing distance of the platoon. Over the next day, she cut his eyelids off, and tortured him so the platoon could hear him scream all night. The following day, she cut off his penis and scrotum, untied him, and sent him running towards the platoon. He basically bled to death by the time he reached the wire. War is hell, but that bitch was plain evil. Shame he didn't get her sooner.

  • Agreed callofdutyguy9 (even I'm the number 1 hater and rebel against COD) Rob Furlong may have the longest distance shot but he had no hostile (Taliban) sniper trying to hunt him compared to Carlos Hathcock who had the "Cobra" (NVA's best sniper) to hunt him but he got shot through the scope by Carlos. And also Carlos downed a HVT who was a NVA general. Semper fi. Death from long range.

  • One hell of a sniper here, enough of that bullshit rob furlong, over rated gay shit

  • @callofdutyguy9 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL---AMEN BROTHER--1 SHOT DOES NOT MAKE A LEGEND---FURLONG IS A HATHCOCK WANNABE

  • @callofdutyguy9 furlong is a good sniper but you gotta look at the caliber difference lol. 30.06 vs 50bmg. give Carlos the the fifty and see what happens lol.

  • @fatdan172501 for real, guys these days have it easy....

  • @savagenomore dont get me wrong its an amazing shot and hes a good sniper but that gun is what gave him the longest kill not skill alone.

  • @fatdan172501 fyi, with just about ANY sniper rifle, you can get a really long range kill as long as you can adjust the scope and know how much to lead etc with the mil-dot/MOA. yes the rifle has a small part to do with the actual shot, its more skill to be able to hit a target. it doesnt matter what rifle you use, if you cant hit the target.

  • im aware that most heavy barrel hunting rifles tactical and quote sniper rifles are capable of under 1 moa out of the box with no mods thats not what im saying. what im saying is the gear of the past was not as good as we have now and thats a fact and many snipers had to compinsate for that for instance carloses unertal brand scope had to re zeroed after ever shot that sucks. and its carlos who had the longest kill before furlong and if furlong was in his day and had no fifty hed have no record.

  • @fatdan172501 100% correct. as i siad, its not only rifle, its more skill. the rifle helps a lot though. guess we kinda reached a point where we understand what the other's saying now too ^^ i'm glad others pay attention to all this stuff too lol.

  • @WvSharpshooter absalutely lol. merry christmas

  • @fatdan172501 same to you

  • Marine snipers are the best..period!!!!

  • @remowil55 1000 yards is ridiculously hard to hit spot on with any rifle. If someone can do that than they deserve the title of a true sniper.

  • @RegistrationCop that's why carlos is a legend!!!

  • As much as I honor the deeds of Carlos Hathcock. There are sick people that do not need to learn the techniques in this video. It is your right to post this information, but I want you to understand that this is just as accessible to the bad guys as the good guys.

  • @valetudospang

If we wanted you to be our mommy we would have told you already. They can learn this stuff but having talked to several real snipers I can tell you that not everything in the "text book" is available. You have to know someone or have gone through the training already.

  • @remowil55 I AGREE WITH YOU FRIEND!!

  • Carlos Hathcock is the best of the best without question he exceeds above and beyond on what he was trained in the marine corps scout sniper school and just by reading his book he truly made sniping an art!

  • R.I.P. G.Y.S.G.T. Marine Legend and True Hero!

  • @leafsfan9917 I ment carlos has a lot more than the record says, that was my point, and its a different situation now you cant really compare, hathcock is the best though

  • @remowil55 Plus Rob missed twice, took three shot, Carlos made his with one shot.

  • @remowil55 his second shot actually hit the guy center mass but was stopped by his pack, at that range you need some luck, you cant expect a single shot kill

  • Hathcock is a wonderful American and a phenominal Marine

  • R.I.P Gunny. Your legend lives on.

  • GUNNERY SGT. CARLOS NORMAN HATHCOCK 2

  • does he come from latin decent?

  • CARLOS WAS IRISH

  • really that weird and irish carlos...anyways he was a good guy

  • shut up hes from america

  • no. i cant remember the exact quote (from the book "marine sniper: 93 confirmed kills" a book which i highly recommend) but it says something about him being named Carlos despite not being of Latin herritage

  • CARLOS WAS A SIR NAME

  • HATHCOCK IS AN IRISH NAME

  • NORMAN IS A ENGLISH NAME

  • "but i stoped her and i put one extra for good measure" Fuck yes. God Bless Hathcock.!!!!

  • @remowil55 got a possible angle on MEDAL OF HONOR for Carlos,BILL CLINTON,IS A FELLOW ARKANSAS BOY,JUST LIKE HATHCOCK,HELL THEY WERE BORN COUPLE DAYS APART ONLY 30 MILES APART IN THE SAME NECK OF THE WOODS.THAT NECK OF THE WOODS CHANGED HISTORY.

  • President Clinton, is the one who awarded him the Silver Star for the burning APC, where he saved 7 Marines. That one shoud have been the MOH incident. The crawling for 3 nights and 4 days covering 1200 yard to shoot the NVA General should have earned him the Silver Star. About the only hope now is to write President Obama asking him to upgrade Carlos's Silver Star to the Medal of Honor. I will not give up on this. Even though he is gone, This country owes this man.

  • @remowil55 MAN I HATE THAT-----SOUNDS LIKE A LONG SHOT------IT MIGHT WORK.

  • @remowil55 CALLING ON MY OLE FRIEND remowil55,carlos deserves the medal of honor for his service.WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP YOU

  • @ninjapenguino101 How you figure that, becasue he had 13 more kills than Carlos. Chuck did one tour in Vietnam, Carlos 2, Carlos had the longest recorded kill in combat history, most of waht is taught today to sniper, Carlos inveented or perfected. Chuck was a great sniper, but overall with more than 300 probables Carlos is still tops. Sorry. The most kills don't make you the greatest. He was the only one the VC had a 30,000 dollar bounty on.

  • @remowil55 land also had a high bounty on his head as well

  • @bigballa3254 It wasn't 30 thousand American.

  • If you havent you need to read the book silent warrior or marine sniper they have all his stories and silent warrior tells what he did after the war

  • I served in the Corps in '91-94 with his great-nephew.

  • Carlos was an only child, he didn't have any nieces or nephews.

  • I can't vouch for the alleged great-nephew, he was a kind of a story-teller, but that was his claim, and everyone that knew him knew his story. One possibility, though, Gunny Hathcock was married, maybe she had siblings and the guy I knew was related to him that way. Not sure.

  • He has a son Carlos Hathcock III. I have met both of them.

  • No carlos wasnt an only child he had a brother I think he was older than carlos. His family history and where he grew up and even picture of his family are in his book WHITE FEATHER. I have a copy and it is a good read.

  • @JoezVendetta Sorry your information is wrong and whoever wrote it. Carlos Hathcock was born on May 20, 1942, in North Little Rock (Pulaski County), the only child of Carlos and Agnes Hathcock

  • remowii55 i rescept your comments because they are correct.keep on keeping on brother.your friend BubbaLee2.

  • hey one more side note on Hathcock's childhood, dont go looking for the woods where Carlos grew up, they have been destroyed by urban-sprawl.They were in the Geyer Springs area of North Little Rock,Arkansas.

  • @remowil55 The book was written by Charles henderson a former Marine himself and it show Carlos standing beside his brother leaning against his car. It was a photo from Carloses family collection. Unless henderson lied and mad all this up!

  • very good shot. the father of all current marine scout snipers, this guy is a legacy

    and should be honored

  • I had the privialge of meeting carlos at his home on the 27th of dec 98 before he passed away in in feb of 99. it was awesome to talk to him in person and to get the honor of praying for him. His wife jo was as sweet as a mother could be. it was truley an honor for me, earth lost a man of honor and heaven gained a warrior to protect her gates!!!

  • Very good story brother, I too had the honour of knowing Carlos. My Father and Carlos were very close during the 60's- early 80's. I remember listening to them talk in our living room for hours on end about employing snipers in combat, rifles, optics, etc.... I was very young but I still remember. My Father still honors him every year on his birthday and on the day we all lost him. Thank you for sharing your story.

  • Hooooah and thank you for your service to our wonderful nation. The liberals my forget, the politicians may forget, the rich may forget, but the average patriotic american will never forget your sacrifice. Hooooah to all those that have served and protected this great nation

  • Carlos is Awesome!

  • Hathcock truly is great, but I have to say I have to applaud my fellow Canadian Rob Furlong, and for what he has contributed. He may have not killed 93+ men, but made a huge impact. Respect goes out to Hathcock.

  • Sorry. Meant to give thumbs up.

  • whats his book called?

  • damn im glad he got that bitch

  • This guy killed a lot of folks that needed killing. This included a VC torturer who liked to skin and emasculate men, a french defector who was also a sadistic pedophile and a VC Psycho who was crazed by drugs and fueled by hate. Carlos got them all. Good for him.

  • @eviltreemonster Vc are assholes sad that hathcook died so early

  • @georgewashington92

The frenchmen was the worst because he was a pedophile. I wish this guy was alive so he could kill all the bastards in the Vatican.

  • @eviltreemonster unfortunatley men like him are never recognized

  • @leafsfan9917

    Yea. Pure fuckery that.

  • @eviltreemonster he also got a chinese general, one of hathcocks hardest missions.

  • @wvufreak44

The cure for a Red is a bullet in the head.

  • @eviltreemonster who was the french guy he killed.

  • @88pie88

He was a professional interrogater for the VC who defected after the French war in Vietnam. He liked to fuck around with young boys. Carlos gave him the bullet he was asking for.

  • Over a period of 2 days he single handedly pinned down a company sized NVA element. He had 37 confirmed kills off that but I'm sure realistically its around a hundred. 93 is confirmed, they don't count the hundreds of other kills. Respect man.

  • Thank you Gunny. For both your candor and for your dedication to your art. From the daughter of a Mud Soldier. You no doubt saved many of our men. We all owe you a huge debt.

  • Apache was what they called the evil woman. That Marine Gunnery Sergeant Hathcock was talking about had been emasculated and then set free. He ran toward hill 55 and died from blood loss just as he got into the base. Carlos saw all this happen and made it his soul mission to get Apache. And boy did he get her. Damn!

  • A humble hero,R.I.P. those stories would make good conversation in heaven man

  • Read Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills and The Silent Warrior both by Charles Henderson.

  • R.I.P White Feather Thank You For Service.

  • Job Well Done White Feather.. thank you and much respect!!

  • Read "Silent Warrior" it tells about his childhood and many stories about his services in Vietnam.

  • Can anyone tell me where I can find more information on this Appache he killed? I had a hard time udnerstanding, and I never heard of this even.. Id really apreciate any information... the woman who he got personal with, skinned a kid?

  • Try the internet her name is out there somewhere, but from what i have read, this bitch was evil. She killed and tortured a lot of soldiers, her method was skinning them alive. Carlos was made aware of this and when he sat and listen one night of her torture one all night that she turned loose and he made it to the compound and died in the wire, it bacame personal. he set out to get her. And as Carlos did, he got her ass. Probably one of the few times he fire more than one round for a single kill

  • Thanks for the info... It really hit my curiosity as I am a huge fan of mr.Hathcock and never heard this story... wow, what a trifflin' bitch!

  • Remowil55, thanks to your help I have found part of a chapter referring to this Apache woman. If you like I could send it to you via message. If your interested add me as a friend so I can send you a copy. and thanks btw

  • Greatest Sniper of All Time!

  • legend

  • Carlos is awesome!!!! You have to love the snipers!

  • ARKANSAS'S ONE MAN ATTACK!!!

  • I can only wonder the confirmed count had hathcock been in ww2 ,the soviets and there distorted head counts, the germans with there propaganda. Then hathcock on a open hill, dropping them like flies!! GO USMC!!

  • srvaughan121- Not nearly as annoying as your ignorant half-ass observations.

  • Do me a favor and just look up Major John Plaster and look at his record. With what he's been through, I think we can all cut him a little slack for breathing heavy.

  • HE IS THE MAN AMONG MEN

  • Carlos hathcock understood what metaphysicisians call "The Secret", Like most atheletes like tiger woods and jordan, he understood that "Living in the Now" "Where your attention goes energy Flows". Basically whenever you're "In your bubble" your energy is arrayed and focused like a Laser. Knowing and understanding the "Secret" is not only key to being the best of the best , but the secret to all that there is in life

  • I'm pretty sure Carlos got an early pass to a better place.

  • As far as karma goes, it depends on one's intention -do they do it to be mean and punish, or for mercy and to ease suffering?

  • The fact that he witnessed everything he talks about is punishment enough.

  • Carlos is flat awesome. He is outstanding!

  • this host guy i so annoying he seems to have breathing problems he breathes louder than he speaks

  • One of my friends knew him, and has certainly never said a single word against him. He was a good man, and his friends all miss him.

In regards to "Apache" third world privative savages behave like third world primitive savages.

  • He is and always will be SNIPER. His time was cut short not for lack of trying though. I think back to how my dad explained the time he met him at Camp Perry and he just laughed. Dad said " greatest good ol' boy you'd ever meet." His statement boast of pride from a humble man, but he was right you had to think you were better than them of that was the end. I wanted to meet him but he died on my 18th bday. RIP Gunny.

  • and through his eye would have been if both snipers were zeroing in on each other at the same time, and Hathcock fired first, which gave him only a few seconds to act. Given the flight time of rounds at long ranges, both snipers could easily have killed one another. The enemy rifle was recovered and the incident is documented by a photograph. I believe the rifle was either lost or stolen.

  • The sniper had already killed several Marines and was believed to have been sent specifically to kill Hathcock. When Hathcock saw a flash of light (light reflecting off the enemy sniper's scope) in the bushes, he fired at it, shooting through the scope and killing the sniper. Surveying the situation, Hathcock concluded that the only feasible way he could have put the bullet straight down the enemy's scope...

  • Historically Hathcock's most famous shot was shooting an enemy sniper through his scope, hitting him in the eye and killing him. Hathcock and John Burke, his spotter, were stalking the enemy sniper in the jungle near Hill 55, the firebase Hathcock was operating from.

  • you just copyed and pasted this from wikipedia. I was reading about him on there, and you are useing the exact wordage. Im not trying to be a dick or anything, I just thought it was kinda funny.

  • Just as long as your really not being a dick - Actually I was pointing out common known facts about Gunny to some clown who was to ignorant or lazy to search the web. Apparently his post was deleted. If you highlight any part of the text in my post and Google it, it will link to Wikipedia, no big surprise.

  • Really I wasnt trying to be a dick. It was just that while I was reading this it popped into my mind "hey, this sounds like what I read on wikipedia."

Yeah, you can pretty much highlight anything someone types nowadays, and google it and it will somehow link you to wikipedia. It's great! ahaha.

  • MoH for Mr. Hathcock.

  • yeah 2 snipers volunteer to save a downed pilot (no disrespect to them) but he volunteers and saves 7 people and gets the silver star?

  • Carlos was in my opinion, the greatest sniper who ever lived. Period. They know he had over 300 kills they could not confirm, so he didn't get credit for them. I was reading a article the other day where someone had figured out that Carlos alone may have saved as many as 10000 lives in Vietnam through his actions. I have been trying for a couple of years now to get a senator to reccomend the Medal of Honor for him, but it has fallen on death ears.

  • I agree, Carlos should've been awarded the highest honor his country could bestow. Those clowns in DC have no idea what a contribution this man made to this nation. This man was a true legend.

  • Then President Clinton did award him the Silver Star for the APC incident where he saved 7 men from burning to death. The whole time while he was on fire himself. That alone should have gotten him the MOH. Most American Snipers in Vietnam had a standing 5 to 10 dollar bounty on there head, Carlos was so hated by the VC his bounty was 30,000 dollars. And on top of all that, 50 days shy of having 20 years in the Marines they kicked him out. And he did not receive full benefits. What a crime.

  • Why did they kick him out?

  • When the Marines found out that Carlos had ms the forced hime to take a medical. Some over acheiving officer maybe. He was 55 days shy of 20 years which would have givin him full benefits. On medical you don't get full benefits. They could have sent him on vacation or let him work the armory, for the rest of his time. In case anyone hasn't noticed, our Military doesn't give a rats ass about it's veterans. He didn't deserve to be treated this way, he should have been allowed to retire.

  • @remowil55

Actually, Carlos Hathcock received a 100% medical discharge which is better than a regular retirement. With a 100% medical you get a lot more pay and benefits. So no, Carlos Hathcock wasn’t screwed over, he was in fact hooked up just as he should have been. Do some research on the subject,

  • @mrcardio9r The thing is even though he received 100% medical discharge he was discharged two months before his 20 year mark in the USMC

  • Carlos is a legend and a Hero! I can't believe all some idiot blogger hears is "slurred speech" He suffered from MS. Pull your head out of your ass.

  • I first thought he was a little drunk. Even so, that doesn't diminish the man and his accomplishments.

  • Carlos was born in Arkansas, he was Southern, so he would have had a draw to his speach, plus when he made this video he already had MS. So no fault of his own his speach may be a little slurred at times. If you look at the wall behind hime the license plate is dated 91Carlos passed away on 2-23-99. This was a tragic loss.

  • what an amazing story... damn.

  • And the hostile sniper has a direct line to you.
