No, I'm sorry, but I don't agree. Hugh did a good job, sure. I'll grant you that. But when I read the books? I see Tom as Lestat now, and -that- is the mark of a fantastic performance. I'm also certain I'm not alone there.
someone put the show up on YouTube but it's a bootleg. There's accually 2 versions. One from San Francisco (out of town try-out) and one recorded the day before Lestat closed with Drew Sarich (usual Armand u/s Lestat) on as Lestat. You have to be clever to find them ;-) I watch them when I miss my FAVORITE show. :'-(
only just read "Interview with the Vampire" and found out about this, and i would've loved to have seen this on stage :( One thing I don't understand is, why would they change the production dramatically for Broadway if everyone loved the original? Surely they would've thought "is this going to be better or worse?" and "tested" it first? Bring back Lestat!
*cries* Come Back! Why change it from SF? SF was so much better than they had to go and change it. If they won a Tony, I'd be pleased. They could have done "Welcome to the new world" I love that one. *sad* I wish they hadn't closed, it was so good from what I heard from some people.
He looks too much like Marius but I've seen some of the performance and he's very Lestat-ish

This actor can act well but no way he looks like Lestat. He seems like Marius, not Lestat.
