Definitely want to check this one out. I miss oldschool gaming. Being a video game room chairman has its advantages but my funds tend to always end up in new releases. Now that I'm trying to transfer departments I'll have more spendable income for games like this. I have always loved games with some sort of slingback physics.
Do you have the Famicom platform import about a guy that uses the NES Batman's weapons (kind of... a sword, a gun, and bombs) and, in the end, he battles a shadow version of himself before he fights a screen-filling Skeleton? I've been looking for that game for ages, and I played (and finished it) years ago.
Also, if you could save then you wouldn't have a reason to figure out how to use the techniques to bypass the levels very quickly, which I think is where the true fun is in my opinion.
Great review of a very good game. I also enjoyed the sequel on the Playstation. Good to see this title getting some loving. Keep up the good work, it's up to reviewers like us to show gaming goodness to others.
There's a sequel? How does the game play differ? And if the company went out of business, how is there a sequel? If it is a good game, I wouldn't mind seeing JW taking a look at it for us. Thanks for mentioning it for us jedahdoma!
It's a great song by the Japanese group: Kome Kome Club. The song is: Funk Fujiyama. There's a video her on YouTube if you'd like to check them out. They're so very 80's-90's... but still great.
Hehe its funny how you assume i live in the US :P any who if it did come out id most likely get it on DS number one because i find the PSP rather redundant not only that I don't have one :P
Excellent review, you have good taste in video games. This is a title I want in my collection for a while. If I can give you a suggestion, check out Magical Pop'n for the SFC or Jelly Boy 2 (unreleased).
@JewWario There's a Super Everdrive cartridge that costs around $125 that allows you to load whatever ROMS you want onto it, as long as you have the space. It's interchangeable by SD cards (it comes with a 2 GB card, which should be enough for most people to use). You could always use that for future reviews.
Excellent episode! Very interesting game. A shame it hasn't been picked up for a Wii-release in the Virtual Console. I have no idea how I would begin to try to get this for myself. Would I need a Japanese console? And that gives me an idea for a future episode. Show what it takes to be able to play these imports that you review, either as standalone video, or as part of the ending rating sequence. Or both?
You're doing a great job. You are great on camera and are very informative. What I like best is that you identified a niche that wasn't being filled...and went for it. You are now the only person on youtube doing this. And that's AWESOME. I hope someone notices and picks you up.
I'm using a G4 Mac (the old dome one) with 'Final Cut Pro 5' and 'MPEG Streamclip'. For the video game, I'm using a Dazzle and my trusty SFAM. Lastly, my trusty Canon Mini DV ZR 800 camera.
Parodius Da. Good choice. I think I can do that. Might even do that after the upcoming 1.3 (hopefully next week... maybe).
Sweet! Great review of a great game! I'm glad to see you posting more videos. The SFC Umihara Kawase is a favorite of mine, but is too expensive for me to own just yet. Ebay prices go nuts for it. Where'd you pick up your copy? and might I ask what sort of video editing software you use? Looks like you have support for Kanji.
As for a future suggestion of a game I'd like to see, how about Parodius Da for the Famicom? Thanks!
This is one of the greatest action games for me. I'm so happy because your nice videos show good Japanese games to all over the world.
There are many your fans in Japan, too. I am one of them. I really enjoy your videos!

That looks great! I may just have to pick to pick that up!
I think the fact that you know what you're talking about, And you put it in your top 5 sold me on it...
I've seen the title before but never knew what it was...Man, I'm glad I looked into it!.
Thanks for the awesome video!

I know this is a lame joke already, but it just HAS to be done... Does this game has a GIANT ENEMY CRAB!?

Actually you start with 11 lives not 10 lives.

this game looks bad ass and i saw its on the DS and PSP as well ^^
HeshamUchia 3 years ago
You are correct sir! The PSP version was SUPPOSED to come out a "Yumi's Odd Odyssey".
The PSP I have heard is not that great, but the DS version appears to be coming along smoothly and promises to be a hit.
Be sure to get it when it comes to the US!!!

Unfortunately, those two games are going to be hard for not only me to get but viewers.
With "Magical Pop'n" ranging $170+ and "Jelly Boy 2" being unreleased, they cannot be purchased.
I have looked for places like "NES Reproductions" that do SNES carts, but I haven't found one yet that you can name a game and have them make it.
But if you find one, please please please let me know and I will give these two games a look-see.
Thanks for the input.
JewWario 3 years ago
@JewWario A bit too late but have you thought about learning how to make your own reproduction carts? Doing so can save you money on repros.
