I have this book and Love it! It gives a lot of projects to do and get your family ready now for a crisis when it hits. Some things that you never think about. Easy read, just down to earth just like Cody is.
Hey Thanks for this upload. Cody is really a cool dude. and he is very helpful and is always willing to answer questions. maybe because his lack of footwear has given Cody a slower approach to life.

I think people who laugh at survival techniques are very naive. I suppose they assume the power grid will never fail and they can call 911 no matter what.
People who lived through Hurricane Katrina aren't laughing at emergency preparation.
I've went an entire year without a drop of rain: Duddleyville Arizona. It's a great thing to know your sitting on Arizona's largest water table 22' down.
@Fleshy91 They think people thinking of survival situations are crazy lunatics. Well, I'll be laughing that those people when disaster strikes. Because, they will be ill prepared and won't be able to take care of themselves when it happens. And, they will be acting like lunatics, running around in circles with their hands up in the air.
@dadiddlydooda No my friend, they will be trying to take away from you what survivalist like you have prepared for your family . So keep that in mind when preparing for yours. Alabama B co. 2/1 196th LIB RVN 1970-71
@kyletango Why do Americans have this horrible opinion of their own countrymen that they assume when hell breaks loose the country will turn into a Mad Max hellscape? I am all for 100% survivalist training to deal with emergencies, etc. But I am getting tired of the survivalist sub-culture that sees potential jack booted thugs or cannibal-rapist-looter mobs around the corner when the grid goes down.
I love our country. I love the freedoms we have. I treasure the liberties that have been paid for in blood by those that went before us. The downside to these freedoms is an overriding culture of pervasive 'Me Firsts'. We have people trampled going into Wal Mart on black Fridays, as an example. Any survivalist culture really has to take that into account to be viable. It's a situation that will most likely exist.
@SupernautG After 15 days of no food, the average human turns to cannibalism. I saw this statistic in a study. Eat lots of bugs and plants so that your friends don't start looking like a steak.
I find this topic to be something that people are for some reason afraid to talk about, almost for fear of ridicule. Or, they are just too busy being a slave to their work, coming home to turn on the TV, paying bills, getting the kids ready, and repeating. Either way, eventually...for whatever reason it becomes, many people are going to be in for a rude awakening.
haha, cody is the best, lol i love the coment about all the hi tech stuff, the filter pump thing 5 down from me, what if it breaks, use fire, HUMAMS ARE LAZY lol always looking for the quickest easiest way, ...

You need to secure a water source first. The best tool for this job is the Katadyn Survivor 35. It allows you to pump fresh water from ANY tainted water source and is the only water filter on the market that can pump fresh water directly from the ocean.
Katadyn Survivor 35 is available ANYWHERE. Ebay and Amazon sells them cheap.
@manmanguy Fire will NOT work better for sea water. Have you every tried to build a distillation system? Do you know how bulky and how much fuel goes into trying to desalinate water?
This is why desalination and purification with a reverse osmosis membrane is BEST. Katadyn Survivor 35 is the only thing available for this purpose. Luckily eBay sells military surplus at 1/10 the original price since troop recall.
dude what you don't get is you can't always rely on ONE THING... that's the biggest rule of thumb... cause if that thing gets fucked up, or if someone rips it off from you, it gets lost or any number of other possibilities, then you sir are all the way to the balls FUCKED... and your idea of cheap may not be the same as everyone else's... i can get the same quality of potability from a 4 stage fire charcoal and nylon filter..
Great talk Cody. My wfe and I love your stuff. We were here in southern Miss during Katrina, alot of people out there have no idea what might be in store. Keep up the killer work dude.
Its also funny how someone will say they would kick there ass or that there better without actually knowing the other persons skills. Everyone does things differently, especially based on the type of terrain and environment on which they spent most there time in learning there skills.
The problem with medical training is that even a medical professional like myself is helpless without medications, dressings ect. The best bet are the basics. Basic 1 water, basic 2 food, basic 3 medications IF neeeded and mostly faith that God will see to your needs!!
Keep walking sticks too they can help you walk greater distance. If you work where you can chain up a bike somewhere do that or leave a bike somewhere you can acess if you work in the city and commute an hour or more rent a storage shed to store a bike/parts clothes pump water etc some food camping hammock perhaps an inflatable boat if you need to cross water. I recently bought a trailer at a ys for $10 retails $250 it could serve as temp residence for long trip to get to better location.
For bikes and cars I know of a place thatuses silicone to inflate tires and tubes its about 40 dollars for one wheele on a wheelbarrel but you never have to worry about a flat ever.
in your state, not country buddy, and collecting rain is illegal, stated that its hindering on the water source, or personal water rights, yeah its retarded and dangerously immoral. But this guy is the type of earthship living guy. I thik he knows the legality of his water gathering. Arizona playa many games with its free roamer citizens.. But do check it out, it is illegal, crazy shit
He's saying his "country" as in a different climate/environmental situation. You would say "that farmer lives out in the country." A farmer would say "Cody lives out in desert country." So Cody saying "in my country" is the same as him saying "in my local environmental situation."
Not every State has limits on or laws against collecting rain water. The ones that do? Move out of those mini-tyrannical boundaries and into a more free state.
budbrother what state are you claiming its illegal to capture rainwater? here in the US there is no state that its illegal to capture rainwater, there was Colorado but they have changed their laws to allow it. Cody might be the type to live in a Earthship but I 100% guarantee he would take a hand built debris shelter over a Earthship anyday.
Well thanks to our government (note I am tying to stay clear of political sayings IE right or left Rep or Dem cauz they are under control of one boss IE the funder of the UN) has changed the water laws from navicable waters to waters this seemingly minor change has a hugh impact to where and how gov can limit consficate and owne such a thing. We are 70% water what dose that tell you. This is who gobernment rationalizes it self when marcial law comes.

@dave777blaster well we will be there for them in terms of say moral support? I don't really want them here(too many), and they don't want to come (too cold). Canada's large but only the rich one's would really be able to come here....and we don't really want that.
@dave777blaster Thanks northern brother! We want Canada to know, America will always welcome their awesome supply of Rock N Roll bands! Every American should eat Poutine at least once, eh?
@dave777blaster Happy to hear you say that, especially sense a certain group of Americans can be a bit pompous in their opinion towards Canadians. I (amongst many others) will do the same in regards to support of one another. The way i see it is that were all human in the end, and that's what really matters.
I was in south GA during the flood of 94 and cut off from the world for 3 days and no water or power for 2 weeks. I was prepared and didn't miss anything except the TV
He talks about the most basic yet most important things people need to know to be prepared for disaster in an urban environment. Try to make that into a reality show for tv and see how quickly people stop watching.
Actually, Cody is getting a show on the Discovery channel with Dave Canturbery. It's called Dual Survivor. I'm pretty sure they are filming it now. Also, if you are into survival and self reliance you should check Dave's channel out: wildernessoutfitters.

@dave777blaster Happy to hear you say that, especially sense a certain group of Americans can be a bit pompous in their opinion towards Canadians. I (amongst many others) will do the same in regards to support of one another. The way i see it is that were all human in the end, and that's what really matters.
