Whilst they said church was not their 'thing'. They felt something... I cant see a normal church service doing anything for them.

You said you follow the Bible, but the phrase "Lord of All" (referring to Jesus) is present more than once in the Scriptures. A couple things you might want to keep in mind, though. Firstly, PHYSICAL darkness is good, God said so himself (Genesis 1, He created night and said all he made was good). Secondly, music is just a tool. And like all other tools, they can be used for good or bad. A hammer can be used to build a house or to beat in someone's head.
@DebbieKay1994 Sorry, ran out of room on the last box. I'd also encourage you to look at a few Christian rock bands. Namely bands like Petra, Skillet, MercyMe, Run Kid Run and the Newsboys. All of which are Christians who are on fire hardcore for God, but they still make rock music, mostly using it as a tool to encourage Christians and witness to the unsaved. A great example is a song by Petra called "Stand", specifically citing the scripture that says, "Having done all to stand, stand."

If I went to a normal rock concert in London, I' imagine it would similar to this video. That's fine, 'cos music is fun. But doesn't it also show that you don't need the whole jesus story or superstitious belief to enjoy this music? And, for those below who say that christian music doesn't have to be boring, I think you're confusing the music with the message. The religious message is what bores people, hence why young people aren't interested (and why evangelists try to make it cool with rock).

It has to appeal to youths coz if the songs rnt nice the person would bearly manage to praise God from the heart. Evangelist do make it cool but it is the same message conveyed through their songs and God's word.
i don't see a problem in the way that hillsong conduct their services. there are many passionate believers in that church on fire for God, but as with other churches, there are many fakes. even more so here because some just come for the flow of the atmosphere without really knowing why we worship in the way we do, without the fundamentals of the gospel. i am not the one to judge, all i can do is pray that the services in hillsong work in peoples lives and changes them,turning them backto Christ
Why do people think christian music has to be boring? Like we have to stand still and not have fun. Thats whys Christian artist change their approach,they realize what is going to captivate peoples attention ,they realized it was boring. Any form of music can be abused and misused. Even if it's a song written 200 or 300 years ago. Always remember that Amazing Grace itself came from a heathen song that was sung buy people in drunkenness in the taverns over 150 years ago. It's the transformed life of the person who wrote Amazing Grace which redeemed the song for the Glory of God. So don't think simply because lights and electric guitars are used in church it's already from the enemy. It's not always the case.

At first, I can't understand this and I was against it but when I was assigned to sing the song only then I understood this kind of worship. In a world gathering of Every Nation we do this, we Rock. I see what your saying but you have to remember that for a lot of people this is how they best experience worship. Also, this is London. It almost has to be like this to attract people. Just because it might not look like what you necessarily view worship to be doesn't mean that someone can't worship in that setting. I know that for me I'd rather be worshiping to this then normal contemporary music.

Lights and stuff? A means to an end, as long as it is in line with the Bible and we use it to glorfy God, I dont think it will be a problem. We have lights and all at my church, it really helps bring up the atmosphere in anticipation of worship.

The Bible does say that about darkness. so I just assume stay away from it. 2. This reminds me of a rock concert. Everything is the same but the words. @DebbieKay1994 Don't worry, it doesn't come across as demeaning. You're right, I wasn't going to change my mind, but I did honestly want to know your thoughts. A couple things you might want to keep in mind, though. Firstly, PHYSICAL darkness is good, God said so himself (Genesis 1, He created night and said all he made was good). Secondly, music is just a tool. And like all other tools, they can be used for good or bad. A hammer can be used to build a house or to beat in someone's head.

@DebbieKay1994 Sorry, ran out of room on the last box. I'd also encourage you to look at a few Christian rock bands. Namely bands like Petra, Skillet, MercyMe, Run Kid Run and the Newsboys. All of which are Christians who are on fire hardcore for God, but they still make rock music, mostly using it as a tool to encourage Christians and witness to the unsaved. A great example is a song by Petra called "Stand", specifically citing the scripture that says, "Having done all to stand, stand."

It turns out the bible is a hodge podge collection of stories from bronze age middle east with no basis in fact. There was no 'garden of eden', therefore no original sin, therefore no need for redemption.

If I went to a normal rock concert in London, I' imagine it would similar to this video. That's fine, 'cos music is fun. But doesn't it also show that you don't need the whole jesus story or superstitious belief to enjoy this music? And, for those below who say that christian music doesn't have to be boring, I think you're confusing the music with the message. The religious message is what bores people, hence why young people aren't interested (and why evangelists try to make it cool with rock).

@Freethinking2010 No not the message is boring the fact that it is the style used is when the ppl were in WWII or even b4. hillsong and many other christian bands write worship music which appeals to youths and pleases God all the same way.
It has to appeal to youths coz if the songs rnt nice the person would bearly manage to praise God from the heart. Evangelist do make it cool but it is the same message conveyed through their songs and God's word.

i don't see a problem in the way that hillsong conduct their services. there are many passionate believers in that church on fire for God, but as with other churches, there are many fakes. even more so here because some just come for the flow of the atmosphere without really knowing why we worship in the way we do, without the fundamentals of the gospel. i am not the one to judge, all i can do is pray that the services in hillsong work in peoples lives and changes them,turning them backto Christ

Thats whys Christian artist change their approach,they realize what is going to captivate peoples attention ,they realized it was boring. So for those of you who get religious on us, read you bibles in its entirety and don't let humanistic and conventions and traditions be your basis to condemn this form of praise music. If you it's not your type, then for you its sinful, stick to your type of worship music in worshiping God. We will not judge you. Leave that between you and God. Any form of music can be abused and misused. Even if it's a song written 200 or 300 years ago. Always remember that Amazing Grace itself came from a heathen song that was sung buy people in drunkenness in the taverns over 150 years ago. It's the transformed life of the person who wrote Amazing Grace which redeemed the song for the Glory of God. So don't think simply because lights and electric guitars are used in church it's already from the enemy. It's not always the case.

Once again, the grossly uninformed go on a rampage, judging what they don't know. This is PART of a church service. This is the "go ye therefore into all lands" part. This is the part that brings the NON-Christians in, and lets Christians show them that they can have a good time, can be entertained, and can even WORSHIP in ANY style. Hillsong London reaches about 60,000 people PER WEEK with the Gospel. How can any true Christian believe that's a BAD thing? It's not the METHOD, but the MESSAGE.

I see what your saying but you have to remember that for a lot of people this is how they best experience worship. Also, this is London. It almost has to be like this to attract people. Just because it might not look like what you necessarily view worship to be doesn't mean that someone can't worship in that setting. I know that for me I'd rather be worshiping to this then normal contemporary music.

Lights and stuff? A means to an end, as long as it is in line with the Bible and we use it to glorfy God, I dont think it will be a problem. We have lights and all at my church, it really helps bring up the atmosphere in anticipation of worship.
