@ermelljno At the time I was very new to the tablet as well as digital painting. I chose to take care of my borders on a single layer so I could cheat and draw outside the lines on my other layers. It was a cheap trick.
@nakirush Ok. So you started digital drawing on a 21 Cintiq... that's what i would to do too, but i guess it's an expensive starting... I think i'll get an Intuos4... However i believe you can not have a Cintiq and do not how to use an Intuos... For example if you search for a grafic job you have to use a no-lcd tablet at work for sure... Is that mine only a poor consolation? :D
@ermelljno I've done tablet work since then, it's just not my preference. Once in awhile I wish I had a regular tablet. I feel an Intuos is stronger for foundation work and the Cintiq is great for detail. My work is always a lot looser on an Intuos, where as the Cintiq is tighter. Think of an Intuos as a wet medium (loose, flowing) and the Cintiq as dry (hard-edged, controlled).
Are you able to put your reference on the other monitor and use the cintique individually? is it like using dual monitors? thanks for the vid by the way!
@BenjieArt The Cintiq is a stand-alone monitor with a tablet built behind the screen. When I tried doing dual-monitors, the tablet would bug out and try to track across both screens; meaning no 1-1 drawing. This may have been corrected with Windows 7's tablet support, but I've yet to try it.
@nakirush I'm running a Cintiq 21UX on Win7 with two extra LCDs - there's a function called Display Toggle, assigned to one of the side buttons, lets you switch from 1:1 on the tablet to a proportional mapping across the 2 LCDs, so the Cintiq behaves like a standard tablet with dual monitors. Hitting the button switches it back to 1:1 on the Cintiq.

hi, i have just purchased my first cintiq tablet and was wondering how you colour calibrated your cintiq tablet. My colour from my laptop and cintiq are completely different.
how are the colors on it? The lcd panel is actually quite old and there's lots of newer monitors with better colors. Do you notice any color lacking on it?
DOOOOD You have won me over. your a ff fan and not only that you can draw!!!! your amazing! keep up the good work hopefully I will get as good as you someday ^_^
u luky son of a bitch i envy u more then anywone else
i dont want a whole lot of things but i would love to pursue my carrea in graphic deisigner and i want a cintiq of some kind and i have 900 buks so a few hundred more and i can get a 12wx by the way u are a grat artist
I was hoping to get one, but I know that only Wacom makes these products, and the amount you have to pay is honestly an extortion. How can you charge 2500 USD when gearheads are MAKING THEIR OWN for 500 dollars or less?
I can do that if I have wacom cintiq!! but maybe sooner I will have that it still costs 4000NZD here!! and I need to buy a car first for my everyday use.
I wouldn't get another cintiq for anything. They are little more than a big assed intuos bolted onto a 21 inch monitor. Big LCDs cost $280 now. There is no reason for an intuos to cost $2500. It is worth $900 at the most. Hold off until wacom stops gouging. Better technology will replace these awkward and massive beasts in no time.
have you found any better ones yet, or cheaper ones yet. because i think that they are a very handy thing. especially if you are an Animator For ILM and it cuts your work time down by hours. if you do find any pleas tell me i would be greatly thankful.:)
Could you upload a clip, in closeup, of the drawing process in realtime on your cintiq? (I mean, not speeded up). That would help me get a better idea of the tablet. Also, have you tried Artrage? It has some of the best pencil tools I have ever seen, but the lack of a good smearing tool alas Photoshop prevent me from using it regularly, anyhow is an amazing piece of software and I'd love to watch you with it on your Cintiq.
Fantastic, I enjoyed your picture as much as I enjoyed watching you painting it, and you music choice is beautiful, could you tell me who composed it?
I'm seriously thinking about buying a cintiq, I wanted to since many years ago, but prices in Spain are very high for wacoms, so now with the new 12wx I have seen the light, Have you tried it? maybe is too small? I actually have an Ultrapad a5 I bought in 1998.
The music was composed by Uematsu Nobuo for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
As for the Cintiq 12wx, I haven't personally used it. However, speaking from experience, I can say you won't be disappointed by the quality Wacom puts into their products. If it's in your price range, I'd say get it. Size wise it will be about the same as drawing on a piece of copy paper, or a small sketchpad.
Why did you erase the green globe to come out the drowning below instead of invert the order of levels???
