This is why the United States of America is the greatest country in the World simply because they know how to honor their fallen warriors even though it's hard for them to send their soldiers to a war ...A war that could easily kill one of their brave warriors. Great movie, and so touching. May the good Lord bless the souls of all those brave soldiers who sacrifice for their country so the rest of us will continue to live and be free everyday. Amen.

It's amazing and very touching how they continue to uphold their great traditions in giving well deserved respect to their fallen heroes. @TheMarineKid17 ...My understanding is that while you are correct the movie is also being accurate...he had JUST been promoted right before his death but the paperwork hadn't yet caught up to him (though he officially had died as a LCpl, he was still a PFC as far as everyone involved at the time knew).

Taking Chance is the best movie I've ever seen on television. What I loved about it is that it celebrates the life of a young man as he's transported back in a coffin to his family - yet the respect and honour/ honor shown to him is moving, touching and incredible from all people from all walks of life as he moves from place to place. Stunning Kevin Bacon performance and such a beautiful tribute to Chance R Phelps - son, brother, friend, young man who chose to fight for freedom. R.I.P Chance!
