  • Mr Hitchens is also a loud supporter of western corporate sponsored intervention of sovereign nations. Millions of people have died and most of the Iraqi people are now impoverished due to such policies. I wonder what motivates such an intellectual to promote such injustice? Is he perhaps an agent of the status quo or is he just out there to provoke reactions by going against streams of pro humanitarianism?

  • @carinum

''Is he perhaps an agent of the status quo or is he just out there to provoke reactions by going against streams of pro humanitarianism?''

Go to bed Kiddo, you're getting all riled up.

  • @BelfastAtheist So you're saying Hitchens is a bit like the bible, open to be interpreted by subjective desires?

By your screen name, I presume you are an atheist and that you admire Hitchens for defending Atheism.

I agree with most, if not all of those theories, but I cannot agree with his political views when they are pro corporatism.

BTW, I wonder what part of my comment made you enter into a parental stage of mind?

  • @carinum

For a start, your comments were unbelievaly asinine; completely disingenuous. Secondly, I assume you're much younger than myself. As you seem to be unfamiliarized with Politics, or indeed Corporatism. Or indeed as to Hitchens Worldview.

I would ask to give me relevant examples of Hitchens having supported Corporatism, but as you gathered yourself I'm quite a fan of his & own his entire works. Not a single one of which even mentions Corporatism, to my recollection anyways.

  • @BelfastAtheist Pretty emotional words... asinine, completely disingenuous, unfamiliar with politics and corporatism, young...

Makes me wonder if your attachment to Mr Hitchens is based on more than just reading?

Question: What is there to gain from promoting corporate military intervention?

  • @carinum

The ''Corporate military intervention'' you so (again) disingenuously speak of, does not exist. Iraq was a keystone state, vital to the survival of the World Economy; yes this means Oil. But even that Oil has other factors, such as breaking the Duopoly between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

I digress though, if you seriously think the Iraq War only came into existence for the profits of Haliburton; then you're sorely, sorely mistaken.

  • @carinum

    Questions you should have asked:

    1) How much Oil does Iraq have? (Some estimates go as far as 30 Trillion Dollars worth)

    2) Does it have more or less since we intervened? (Clue: it has more thanks to our improvement of their Oil infrastructure; i.e our building of new prospecting equipment)

    3) Did Haliburton (or any other major Energy company involved in Iraq) need money in 1998 when the Iraq Liberation Act was unanimously passed in the House? (No)

  • @carinum

    4) How much did the Iraq War effort cost on America's part during a recession? (7 Trillion Dollars)

    5) Have they gotten 7 Trillion Dollars worth of Oil? (No)

    6) Will they ever? (No)

    7) Do they get the majority of the Iraqi Oil..or even a good part of it? (No)

I could go on, but evidently you don't know much about the Iraq War.

  • @BelfastAtheist Oil is just a fragment of larger scam. Please read "War is a racket" by retired US. Marine Major General Smedley D. Butler. Quote from the book: A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

The essay, booklet is free and available on google.

  • @carinum

Have you thought of telling this to the New York Times yet?

  • @BelfastAtheist Please read the article instead of being sarcastic.

  • Amazing intellect, should have been born 6000 years ago though, we may have been able to skip the entire thing that he writes books about.

  • Such an intellect , love him or hate him, he is clever and his important words are being heard. I agree the religious crowd have had their way for too long.

  • Hitch is da man!

  • Good interview

  • thanks for posting
