  • This is a good over view. The 999 plan will work. If you do the homework and educate others, it makes perfect sence, just as the fair tax.

  • stop whistling or get a speaker lol but i like the 999 system

  • Flawed calculator.... sigh

  • You really should realize that this calculator contains a basic, glaring math error. Taking 22% from the retail price is not how you find the "true cost of the good," assuming that that good has been marked up by 22%. You need to divide the retail price by 1.22 to get the correct number. This is because both the 22% current embedded tax and the 6% assumed embedded tax under the Cain plan must be applied to the same number. The way it's set up now the embedded tax is actually 28.2%

  • You are not correct. Studies show 22% OF retail prices are due to embedded taxes. See the FairTax.org website for Inclusive vs Exclusive tax rates.

  • That assumes a corporation is going to charge less for an item, instead of keeping the same price and fattening their profits.

  • They will try to do that... But their competitors will cut prices to compete with them. Likely final prices will settle somewhere in between what they are now and what the calculator shows is possible.

The point is ALL consumers will be paying the same or less than they do now ... This addresses the complaint that Poor and middle classes will be getting a tax increase. NOT TRUE!
