i have just got one and used it once (i think i may of over filled it) im taking it out to use again this weekend - will it be ok in my back pack filled up or will it leak? not sure if you have to carry it empty & then fill it up on site. thinking of buying a small bag to put it - what do you think
@funkyprepper This stove may be kind of heavy for backpacking, but if you do use it for that I don't think you'll have problems with it leaking. I say that because mine will hold pressure for months at a time.
Wonderful, I have a pressure cooker like yours. Would be handy to cook dried beans, rice and other items that take hours, and takes lots of fuel to cook them that long. This way under an hour and they are done.
@Allen2045 I think if you're creative enough, there's not much of a limit to what can be cooked in these little pressure cookers. You can also can stuff in the too, but just not much at one time. The Presto pressure cooking cook book has a great recipe for white chili that has a cook time under 30 minutes (you still need to soak the beans overnight).
@therealvirginiawind My Step Mom gave me her 6 qt. pressure cooker. She only used it a couple of times. It is stainless steel had the book that came with it full of recipes. Thanks again for sharing this with us.
Hey,that looked good enough to eat again, you made me hungry watching the video, ill bet it was good eatin, thanks for the video my friend,God bless ya !
@johnboh51 I suspect folks tend to go to fast food places for chicken more than they buy a bird to cook for themselves. Maybe not, but my impression is the young folks don't know a lot about cooking other than putting something in the microwave. Cooking a whole chicken in a pressure cooker is fast, is a lot better quality, and cost less than getting it from a fast food place. It just makes sense to learn how to do some of this stuff, and maybe I'll help out a bit by showing how to do it.
@snaps81625 I add about an inch of water under the thing that holds up the chicken. That's plenty to keep the pressure cooker going, and it makes some nice broth when it's finished.
@snaps81625 Ahhhhhhhhh and now I know.. Well it sure looked scrumptious. Its nice to have those pressure cookers eventually I think they will be a God send.. I wish you well!
That looks great! I once did an entire turkey just like you did your chicken but I did it in my pressure canner. It turned out delicious. I would say beautiful but it was not browned. Once I was done, I pressure canned most of the meat. I need a small cooker to do what you did. And that little coleman really did the job! Thanks for sharing.
@JaxRL I love my pressure cooker. It's fast and so much better than cooking in a microwave. This cooker I have I got at a big box store on close out and it cost me $20. That's the best kitchen purchase I think I've made.

Another advantage of cooking that way is you can take the drippings and the carcass and make a really nice stock for another meal.
vtpaladin 1 month ago
@vtpaladin I tossed the carcass, but i did keep the drippings. That's pretty good stuff to add to mashed potatoes.

@shadowofjuniperhill This little stove has stood by me for years now. I use stove gas, but regular gasoline can be used too.

@TheCajuntransplant A chicken in a pressure cooker is hard to beat. I much prefer that to a thin trail soup when it comes to camp cooking.
