God I wish I was brave. I would so dearly love to do this but I'm afraid of heights AND flying. But my God would I just love to be brave enough to do this.
You fall at terminal velocity, that's why it doesn't feel like a rollercoaster which is pulling you down and make your stomach go up. It's like floating on a cushion of air, it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
as crazy as it sounds you never get the feeling of falling which i know is most ppl including myself think. I just did my first jump last sunday and the scariest part was the ride up. once i was at the door i was so calm and ready and at no point did i feel like i was falling. its hard to explain but you should def do it.. its an awesome experience!
if you jump from a hovering helicopter or a static balloon you get the tingle sensation,i did a tandem jump from a sea king at 10,000 feet in the hover, it felt weightles for about 10 secs we did two forward rolls it was ace!!
I tip my hat to all of you who faced a fear, or simply wanted to challenge yourself, explore your sense's.
While I have in other ways, I have yet to summon the nerve to attempt this one. I do enjoy and appreciate watching you all face this, and overcome it. Much respect....
I love it. A buddy of mine was a tandem instructor on a load where I was fun jumping and his "tandem-ee" student looked happy before we went up... but her eyebrows were in the "oh crap I'm scared" position.
She went fetal instantly and had her eyes closed the whole time.
She paid for a video of herself freaking out, screaming and squeezing her eyes shut.
from 12 500', you're freefalling for about 40/45 sec and under canopy it's about 5 minutes but that depends how you fly your canopy... if your always making 360 degree turns, it's gonna be less and vice-versa if you only fly in straight line
Reminds me down in Eagleville Tn there is a grass airstrip where we flew gliders and a skydive group across the street. I went by there to check em out I was nervous just being there and I was not even jumping! lol
