  • Chick Corea with: Mel Gibson on saxophone, Mark Ruffalo on bass

  • せくしー!!!

  • The only thing I hate in this video post here is that fact that it suddenly stops in the best part ! I know we have a limitation here, but ... aaaaahhhhhhggggggg!!!!!!

  • I LIKE JAZZ ALSO USE IT WITH MY POETRY, LOVING RIDING THE HEM OF THE SMOOTHNESS WITH MY VOICE. FAYEPAC UNLEASHED

  • @Fayepac ABSOLUTELY PRO, YOU ARE

  • i like this jazz anthem b/c it is so iconic, memorable and ageless, and can be done in so many genres, even with the banjo, all the best for the new year every one and thank you Mr Corea

  • The saxophone player is Eric Marienthal !

    :)

  • hey it's uncle fester on guitar! lol.

  • Is that Frank Gambale on guitar?

  • @SidVicious10101 Yes ! this is Frank Gambale. Is it Dave Weckle on drums?

  • @misternogreco it is dave weckl indeed

  • i forgot the name of the saxaphone player but Iove his work. I think he played with Maynard Ferguson, another of my favorites.

  • where can I find ENGLISH transcription for alto sax? The website is in Greek I think lol

  • CHECK THIS youtube.com/watch?v=DEpp5xOrnJ0

  • the definition of a great alto tone

  • great drumming.

  • I want to learn jazz guitar soloing, does anyone know what mode this is played is as in Ionion, Lydian? Thanks

  • @stoob1969 maybe phrygian and dorian , but its jazz , when you imprivise you use all scales known to man lol.

  • well,I liked it a lot,but that's not free jazz...the title is wrong

  • @TimothyScandella

Pretty sure it means the transcriptions are free, as in you don't pay for them

  • @ShellyOFG GOD,what an idiot I am....ha,very embarassing....you're right...

  • @TimothyScandella VIVA PERON

  • @ShellyOFG

    yes, free of charge.

  • patitucci you like me!!!!!!!!

  • I wish the rest of this video was available. This is my favorite version of Spain I have found on Youtube.

  • @Dfnoboy it is on youtube. just search for 'chick corea - spain (Live at Montreux 2004) Thats the full length one

  • @Dfnoboy no wait, my mistake that's a different one. Sorry!

  • yeah muy bueno

  • This is such a fun video to watch and listen too. Johns bass looks almost the size of himself. And when Frank starts his solo in the begining John looks at him and laughs, he knew he blew the intro. You have to see the whole thing though.

  • That was hilarious. Man, John sure lays down a phat samba groove and Dave is all over it. So in the pocket.

  • Frank played better with his hairpiece.

  • I love when Frank starts his solo when the melody is still going on! haha

  • "this"? It's Chick Corea himself ;)

  • Eric Marienthal <3

  • clarinet could also be good! good thing i play all three and i can choose! and EWI... ahh the possibilities are endless!!!!!!!

    mmuuuahahahahahah

  • I think this piece works better with a flute instead of a sax playing the lead.

Btw, I love the look Chick gets when he plays the bits at 1:13. :D

  • I think it sounds great on a Flugelhorn ;-D

  • i actually like the sax playing lead more than the flute

if only the studio version had sax instead of flute

  • at 1:13 he gets that funky face

  • It's undeniably silly.

  • hahaha, yep!

  • amazing.

you should check out jake shimabukuro's cover .

  • whats everybodys problem? always putting down something just cause you dont get it. i love jazz, fusion, metal, and country. i dont particularly like hip-hop but i can see why people do. all of these genres really help each other grow. thats why there are so many sub-genres. to say that a genre in general suck is pretty ignorant cause there is no way you could have heard of every band within that text. and who wants to be ignorant?

  • lol, ur mad aren't you?

  • Conspiri...that's probably the most intelligent thing ever posted in a youtube comment section...thank you.

  • you may just be the most intellegent being on the internets at this moment

  • Borges said " don´t be enemy of genres".

  • @CONSPIRI666 well done you have the dullest opinion on the internet. cheers for having absolutely nothing to say.

  • patitucci is excellent.

  • and do u have any videos of u playing on here?

  • these guys are laying back on this tune, it's really nice... they have come a long way since the earlier performances this line up did, i.e. charged particles... this is Patituci (sp.?!) on bass right?!

  • yes its john;D love his playing : both electric and acoustic!

  • ARTE

  • Sounds much better with a horn 'spesh an Alto ;D

  • OMG I've just realised thats Eric Marienthal! Class alto player!

  • though this version is not quite the best, but simple enough to understand it cant complain when youre talkin about chick corea

  • dimebag was kind of the fastest fingers ive seen but not the greatest guitarist a guitarist takes much more than quick fingers pal, try seeyin narciso yepes THAT is a guitarist, not just a guitarist but a great musician

  • @raulaerosmith I take a huge amount of offense by you saying that Dimebag was not a great musician. There's more to music than speed yes, but again it is incredibly insulting and ill informed that Dimebag's only asset was speed.

  • @13WillSullivan prove me other wise then and ill stand correct

  • @raulaerosmith I'm not saying he is up there with the great jazz masters like Pass, but if you listen to planet caravan by pantera at 2.32 you can't say that is just emotionless shredding.

  • Where can I find guitar tabs? I've always loved this song!

  • Lame.

  • how the fuck is this lame? your full of shit.

  • Compared to other Chick Corea performances of this tune, this one, to me, sounds lame - you deaf, reactionary, illiterate twat.

  • great tune

  • Someone mind telling me what bass that is?

  • Yamaha TRB 6 John Patitucci signature

  • Ahh shoot, I knew the fret inlays were familiar. Thanks for the info.

  • spain is a beautiful song indeed!

  • Awesome, where I can find the complete song? What's the album?

  • Ahhhhhh you cut the Guitar Solo off

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhh Weckl!

  • Chick looks a little like Jerry Lewis in this one.

  • I love this song!

  • Very close to perfection .....as usual !

    Amazing lineup, amazing song !!!

  • damn u cut gambale's hahah

  • daaaaamn :(

  • Nice but a lil slow.

  • i agree but not my much

  • u do realise that this is being played by the guy who wrote,

so therfore its how it is suposed to be.

  • So does that make the tempo on the album version wrong?

  • not it makes it the tempo he felt like playin it at the time.

same as any music really. can be played however

  • Noooooooooooo why is it oveeer!!!!!! Where's the rest?!?!

  • this band is sick i saw them at the blue note except victor wooten was playing bass and he took some crazy solos

  • I am sooooo jeaaaaloous

  • are you dead serious?!

damn, i'd kill to see that.

  • wheres the transcription haha

  • This is amazing...uhhh...beautiful

    GO MEL!

  • Wow, this was incredible!

Mel Gibson has shown skill as a movie director, but as a musician... Wow! That is some good playin', Gib.

...is that an Ibanez SR506 back there?

  • the bassist is John Patitucci and he's playing his signature bass from Yamaha i believe

  • That is correct.

  • arghh!! why don't people show the whole fuckin thing!!!

  • Probably to score money.

"Gimme cash, and you'll see the rest."

    Or just to tease us.

Or to get us to visit their website.

  • todos estos vatos son unos sucuios unos caradura, viejos lobos de mar en jazz lo mejor bola de perroooossss

  • Sax player is eric marienthal, who plays lead alto in gordon goodwins big phat band among other thing

  • COOL¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Great Song

  • what's the sax players name? I know I saw him on a video with Horace Silver playing Sister Sadie.

  • great terrible band !!!! jeje in the sax :mel gibson

  • the best music!

ez az világ legjobb zenéje gyerekek!

  • you can see that when the guitar solo starts, the player is too early. Chick Corea wants to play the theme, but the guitarist is wrong. You can see him laugh when he hears its not solo time yet

  • what the hell, where is the drumsolo?!! Dave Weckl rules!

  • the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest in the world! los mejores del mundo

  • If you hear the whole song, many of you would change your thoughts on Weckl. He does a phenomenal job in this song.

  • If I may be so bold, the tempo of tune is way too slow, which would explain Weckl's approach. Either way, a solid, though not incredibly energetic performance.

  • patitucci on bass, great playing

  • The drummer doesn't play this good. Is it Dave Weckl? Somebody named him... Well. I think it should be played like Airto played it in the originial. Maybe I'm concervative or something. ;)

  • It's dave weckl

  • What the hell, he is a good drummer. But I think he is pretty boring in this video. He could have done it much better.

  • um... David Weck Rocks!!!!!

  • how are you going to say how an all time great should've played a song.you got to be kidding.how come its the muthafuckers on youtube always got sum negative to say about professionals.if his fellow musicians love it he played just right

  • whehre was that concert?somebody have more ?

  • It was in Montreux, in 2004.

  • or Frank Gambale. thats his other name

  • its uncle fester from the addams family on guitar-

    hahaha

  • Well if you think so. They are still making money....even if they do suck....which they don't. lol.

  • Dave Weckl is amazing

  • I went to high school with the sax player's son and even played with our jazz band for a fund raiser. How gnarly is that?

  • This is candy for my ears. First class jazz with first class musicians.

  • i wish i coulda have seen that show, chick corea, john patatucci, and frank gambale.... must have been one hell of a show

  • so u prefer to hear dimebags playing? u'd rather hear an obese retard then true musicianship. typical of children

  • fuckin awesome, mojo=trash, now save ur blasphemy for another page, fusion fans are respectful

  • lol you tard you honestly aint got a clue about music do you monkey. Come back to the table in 20 years eh

  • whattttttttt the fuck hes not hes not bad but no where near the best. anyways how is this music garbage these are all amazing musicians.

  • metal is not garbage

it's one of the hardest generes to play both technicaly and physicaly

wether it's better than jazz it's matter of perspection, personaly i don't think so, there's no greater genere than jazz

if you like metal or not is your own shit too

but still metal is far from being garbage

  • ur right, metal is far from garbage. garbage deserves a proper receptacle. it was also once useful. technically and "physicaly" mean the same thing. and if u like metal u probably have a unibrow. good input!!

  • you are a shit with no oher meaning in life but fuck everyone that doesn't thinks like you bastard

technically and physically aren't the same thing, take for example dave weckl and derek roddy

roddy's stuff is far more physically exahusting

while dave's stufff is much more technical

and wtf with that last coment?

    are you that stupid?

  • lol !!!!!!!!!!!! u have a unibrow!!!!!!!!!

question: If you are trying to distinguish between technical and physical, why didn't you provide your definition of technical?

u simply stated even stronger the point i had made.

but listen, i understand your anger. you're a guy who can play metal but can't figure jazz to save your life so you tell yourself that metal is actually a discipline full of musical statement. u keep that ego strong!!!! (it's all u got!)

  • uhhh

    no

it's simply a no to your whole comment

    i don't have a unibrow

i can figure jazz, i even play jazz and love to play it much more than metal

if in your little brain there's no difference between technical and physical then there's no point of having this discussion, since metal i one of the most physically exhausting generes

so as punk which lacks of any complexy at all

  • lol, i'm just messing. hey let's be friends. i'm actually starting a metal band and i need a drummer, u down?

  • if i wasn't tired enough i would be pissed off

but i just played drums so i'm not pissed

    sooo.. wtf? xDç

  • funny

  • very nice performance!! very good sax-player and funny guitarrist! thx!

  • no videos - no honour!

  • number 1 comment, i am the greatest, give me an honour please!
