@Deathseeker214 - lol. It's higher quality compared to the original version. I originally made this video in 2007 and uploaded it in 320x240. This version is the full resolution of the source footage I used at the time, 640x480. Not exactly HD like my newer AMVs, but better than it was.

@KidAnime20 - That's a simple overlay on a second video track using the Cookie Cutter plugin to blend the two clips. I imagine you should be able to do that in the trial version.

@DarkLordofDebate Oh, no. I know about fading clips together using multiple video tracks and the offset command which looks like a tiny blue triangle on the corner of a clip. I mean, it looked like you managed to put the screening of Tifa in a particular spot. You know, you put her more to the right of the video so he isn't blocking Cloud. It even looked like the background she was in was trimmed off so you can only see her without the background blocking any part of the video with Cloud. How?

@KidAnime20 You just have to fiddle with the pan & crop tool and the cookie cutter tool. I used to the pan & crop to move the clip off to the side, and then used cookie cutter to draw a fuzzy circle around the overlay so that it blends nicely into the scene. You just want a large enough circle with a large semi transparent border around it to blend. Just fiddle with the settings in cookie cutter and you should be able to figure it out.

@DarkLordofDebate I use Windows Movie Maker. I know it's not the best, but it gets the job done. It looks and sounds fine on the Maker, but trying to put it on Youtube degrades the quality by a lot. Do you recommend your software and is it compatible with AVI format?

@KidAnime20 - Yeah Vegas is a good consumer level video editing program, fully compatible with a bunch of different AVI codecs. I think it's about $60 or $70 retail.

Why can't more Youtube users make videos like these? Not only was your timing one of the best, but you made whatever you've shown match the lyrics almost perfectly. Not too many AMV's or user made music videos in general get over 400,000 views often. Nicely done. You should check out this amv called Bleach - It's My Life. That amv has 2,000,000 views. Though, I still think you did better.

The justification I used was: (1) the video is non-commerical and not for profit, (2) it is transformative in nature, (3) is of sufficiently low quality that it could not reasonably compete with the original work, and (4) could have no possible negative effect on the market for the original song, but will in fact promote the song and motivate people to buy it.

Apparently Warner accepted that since the disputes on all my WT videos so far have been successful.

No I didn't have to go to court. When YouTube's filter's flag something as copyright infringing and disable it, there's a little automated process to dispute the copyright claim. You simply fill out a form and the video is restored unless Warner wants to contest it, which they didn't. The whole process takes 5 minutes.

And I didn't upload it in 720p because my source footage wasn't high def, so it would have looked worse if I upscaled it to high definition.
