The reason the chili peppers were so good in the old days is because they worked with what they had, so if it sounded good to them, it sounded good to us. Nowdays, people just write songs that sound "ok" and rely on computers to fix them up so they sound good, but really, all you get is an album of "ok" songs. If you wanna make a great album, write some songs, press the goddamn record button, and if it sounds awesome when you listen back, go sell it. otherwise keep your autotune crap to yourself

Anthony actually uses Aoutotuning all the time, both live and studio. Its a device wich is so amazingly fast you can use it even live, and all your sour notes will automaticly "jump" in the right key. But you have to be pretty close to the note your singing in. You can hear it very clearly on Anthony´s voice in "Californication" in the chorus, on the "Live at Slane Castle" DVD.

It makes the voice sound a bit to straight in the notes, almost robotic.

The thing is though, he's spinning around and dancing, so the guy is already straining himself a lot - of course he's not going to be able to hang onto key all the time. I don't think using autotuning takes away from his skills as a songwriter.

its probably safe to say Slane was edited after the concert. Most bads do it to fix bum notes, etc. I heard John screwed up Maybe" and actually did it twice at the concert. Obviously, that isnt going to make it on the album.

anothony isnt the greatest singer, its a showman, a frontman, he joined the band as a joke, and rapped in the early albums(early 80s) and began to sing later in his career(late 90s), not like he was an auditioned singer, hes a great guy, go read his book 'Scar Tissue' he lived an amazing life
