Big flaw I forgot about with this film: It said to "watch the big giveaway at 9:00." The problem is, the "big giveaway" would have already aired on the east coast, three hours ahead of the west, so there likely would have been cops surrounding Silver Shamrock by the time many of those scenes took place.
They could have corrected that by saying, "watch the big giveaway at 10:00 Eastern/7:00 Pacific." That would have made it more accurate.
What's notable about this film is that it's the only one in the "Halloween" franchise that did not have any part of Michael Myers (the central character of every other "Halloween" film) in it at all, and I believe until "H20" it was the only one based on the west coast.
If I remember correctly, the head of the company (Silver Shamrock Novelties) was out for revenge of some kind or another (I've not seen the full film in years).
I've got to warn you, the scenes are very graphic. No human gets hurt from real or dies for real except in the movie, but many animals did like *SPOILER ALERT* when the rats were really burned off the car/s and some big cats attacked some cows in the movie and that part wasn't faked. And since when can they fee a horse head to a big cat?
Those animals are just too dangerous to use nowadays in the filming industry. Another movie that you should see is The Wild Beasts (1984) a film made in Germany but it's in English so you can understand it. All of the animal action in it is very real, to my knowledge. This film I believe was banned just about everywhere and went underground b/c of its use of animals in a horror movie. They attack each other & people due to escaping from a zoo when PCP got into their drinking water.
That scene right there with the snakes coming out after the bugs came out. Every damn bit of it was real. That was definitely a real Western Diamondback Rattlesnake! They don't do movies like that anymore! Only the CGI sh*t. They've been showing that movie all week and thru Halloween of this year 2011. My sister's tape had cut the rattlesnake scene which I was very disappointed, but you can catch that scene on AMC thru Halloween. Some evil sh#t was in movies back then.

I just find it interesting that they're so hugely popular despite having only three styles. And the kids inexplicably love them so much they wear them regardless of what their costume is (witch-fairy, pumpkin-pirate, pumpkin-ballerina, etc.).

I absolutely love how stoic Cochran is during the whole thing. It's basically an "It is what is is" mentality he portrays with absolutely no regard to who he kills and who is affected. Other than O'Herlihy, the acting was horrendous in the film, especially from Tom Atkins, the lead, of all people. How he was selected to star, I'll never know. His facial features are beyond awful, especially in this scene. But what this film does get credit for is creativity and ingenuity.
I thought that parts of this movie were actually pretty good. Still, it's more entertaining to try to summarize this plot to someone who hasn't seen it.

Well assuming the fad of these masks were as big as the movie claimed, it could easily be in the millions. However, chances are, it would not effect the west coast since national broadcasts are on a four hour time delay between eastern and pacific time zones - plenty of time to pull the commercial and warn people about the masks. That's the problem with the movie industry and it stems from the fact that they're so damn expensive to make. People who invest in these films are looking to make a profit and so in order to minimize risks, production companies will not only kowtow to what the fans want, but what general audiences like as well.
That's why so many films suck. They just repeat the same shit you've seen in other, more successful movies over and over again.

Well assuming the fad of these masks were as big as the movie claimed, it could easily be in the millions. However, chances are, it would not effect the west coast since national broadcasts are on a four hour time delay between eastern and pacific time zones - plenty of time to pull the commercial and warn people about the masks. The Eastern and Central time zones would be fucked, however.

@Xerock - Actually there are 5 time zones in America. There's Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific. Kids watching this in one time zone get screwed. Ample time to warn the rest of America

Not necessarily. Eastern and Central play national broadcasts at the same time - only the clocks are different. So if this killer commercial comes on in New York at 9 pm, its on in Illinois at 8 pm. That's why two time zones get fucked out of the gate.
Still plenty of time to warn the rest of the country.

I think this is the least best out of the halloween movies. I has nothing to do with Michael Myers, and it doesn't have anything to do with the fourth movie. But it is still cool.

That's the problem with the movie industry and it stems from the fact that they're so damn expensive to make. People who invest in these films are looking to make a profit and so in order to minimize risks, production companies will not only kowtow to what the fans want, but what general audiences like as well.
That's why so many films suck. They just repeat the same shit you've seen in other, more successful movies over and over again.
