This woman's hair would likely have been sold for money to make the wigs LoL sells on a sliding scale to children with permanent hair loss from conditions like alopecia. I say likely, simply because she is an adult and adult hair is coarser than children's hair. That is sad. I do think there are better hair donation charities out there though.
If I were her brother, I would never have wanted her to cut her hair, to me, that was her personalty, It was MY SISTER who everyone recognised by her absolutely beautiful long hair. Until 1:41 I thought that it would not happen.Too perfect, smooth, silky, thick and gorgeous was her hair, flowing around her, suiting her much too well, that she could ever lose it, let alone finding a hairdresser who would be so unscrupulous to take away such a treasure from a young woman.

Those "someones in need" have to submit essays and letters of recommendations to even be considered for a wig, and they STILL have to pay out the rear for them. It's long but not that long. Check out the Chinese long hair contests, now those are some long hair. Of course by US standards here hair would be considered long. I personally prefer my hair long like that than spending money on maintaining a hair style (that's high maintenance to me). I've had long hair like that before so I know what I'm talking about. Shampoo/Conditioner that's all I did with long hair. I spend more time now styling my short hair and I'm sick of it and so is my hair.

Well, only 1 of every 100 donations are actually used by Locks for wigs. I hate the pressure put on many women to donate that which took eons of hard work to make beautiful. Wretched jealousy, pure and simple. The truth should be up front. Those with good hearts are used. It's a shame.

I do not like locks of love because most of the hair is sold to fund the wigs. I believe they should try to get more money donations instead of preying on peoples emotions. It is not that i do not have sympathy for the children i just believe the organization should be more forth coming with where most of the hair goes.
My response is easily this: Get a synthetic wig. I'd rather donate time, money, and/or blood to SAVE someone's LIFE. A wig made from real human hair won't save a life. Children are DYING of cancer, and all you care about is donating hair?

Locks of Love is a scam. They have received a mountain of hair and money donations but have produced VERY FEW wigs over the years. And they aren't free (sliding fee) to the kids and they go to people with allopecia, NOT cancer kids!
Leany: Do I LOOK like a child who has lost their hair? and yes, maybe most of them can't afford synthetic wigs, but I bet most can't afford the REAL ones either. If you read the facts before posting, you'll see that LoL still tries to get people to pay for the wigs, they don't give all of them away.
Giving blood is free too, I'd rather do that knowing my donation will be put to better use. There's only like a 10% chance a persons donated ponytail will get used.
L.O.L. receives 2000 donations per week, 104,000 per year. It takes 6-10 ponytails to make a wig (let's say 10). According to Wikipedia, L.O.L. provided 113 wigs. 113 x 10 is 1130 ponytails to make wigs in 2002. Remember, they received 2000 ponytails per week, 104,000 a year. So statistically Locks of Love only uses 1% of donated hair. There, that should end this senseless rambling on this comments section. L.O.L. is corrupt, and you should donate cash instead.
last summer i donated almost 3 feet of my hair ( was to my knee's) to locks of love .. althou i did it in honor of a loved one .. they do have rules for the hair they will and will not take .. ( bleached ,over processed , grey etc)

It's long but not that long. Check out the Chinese long hair contests, now those are some long hair. Of course by US standards here hair would be considered long. I personally prefer my hair long like that than spending money on maintaining a hair style (that's high maintenance to me). I've had long hair like that before so I know what I'm talking about. Shampoo/Conditioner that's all I did with long hair. I spend more time now styling my short hair and I'm sick of it and so is my hair.

I think hair hair suited her face when she got it shorter. it was gorgeous long but it must of been such a high maintenance.
It looks good both ways i think, but now the hair can help people suffering from these diseases to feel better about themselves

Yes, it really is sad that so many women with long hair get suckered into thinking that the hair they donate to LoL gets turned into wigs for the patients. It simply doesn't. LoL gets a huge amount of hair donated to them, but they sell a lot of it, and they even charge the families of the children that they DO make wigs for (albeit on a sliding scale). And they don't provide real hair wigs for cancer patients.

Well, only 1 of every 100 donations are actually used by Locks for wigs. I hate the pressure put on many women to donate that which took eons of hard work to make beautiful. Wretched jealousy, pure and simple. The truth should be up front. Those with good hearts are used. It's a shame.

I do not like locks of love because most of the hair is sold to fund the wigs. I believe they should try to get more money donations instead of preying on peoples emotions. It is not that i do not have sympathy for the children i just believe the organization should be more forth coming with where most of the hair goes.

My response is easily this: Get a synthetic wig. I'd rather donate time, money, and/or blood to SAVE someone's LIFE. A wig made from real human hair won't save a life. Children are DYING of cancer, and all you care about is donating hair?

Locks of Love is a scam. They have received a mountain of hair and money donations but have produced VERY FEW wigs over the years. And they aren't free (sliding fee) to the kids and they go to people with allopecia, NOT cancer kids!

Leany: Do I LOOK like a child who has lost their hair? and yes, maybe most of them can't afford synthetic wigs, but I bet most can't afford the REAL ones either. If you read the facts before posting, you'll see that LoL still tries to get people to pay for the wigs, they don't give all of them away.
Giving blood is free too, I'd rather do that knowing my donation will be put to better use. There's only like a 10% chance a persons donated ponytail will get used.

L.O.L. receives 2000 donations per week, 104,000 per year. It takes 6-10 ponytails to make a wig (let's say 10). According to Wikipedia, L.O.L. provided 113 wigs. 113 x 10 is 1130 ponytails to make wigs in 2002. Remember, they received 2000 ponytails per week, 104,000 a year. So statistically Locks of Love only uses 1% of donated hair. There, that should end this senseless rambling on this comments section. L.O.L. is corrupt, and you should donate cash instead.

last summer i donated almost 3 feet of my hair ( was to my knee's) to locks of love .. althou i did it in honor of a loved one .. they do have rules for the hair they will and will not take .. ( bleached ,over processed , grey etc)
