Because the general underlying story is that each time he tries to get something terrible happens. Unfortunally, you are right, it gets old after more than one, even two movies. Hopefully this one won't push the decent Ice Age franchise over the end. They could have done a better historical work placing the dinosaurs in a more realistic time table. Maybe some of then survived beyond 65 millions ago. Actually dinosaurs remains have been found dated to 48 millions ago, but is streching it.

thats what i meant with journey to the center of the earth, there were a few million years between the last dinosaurs and the first humans. And the way it looks they decided to do a Jules Vernes style underground dinosaurkingdom to bring in dinosaurs anyway.
