James Gosling Rant on Google Android

James sounds like he was saying he was worried about the direction Android was going. There was little to no direction from Google: they essentially were telling people "make this work if you're interested". He correctly noted that this could fragment the community and make life difficult for developers.

Which version do I target? 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, or 4.0? That's just since 2009! Which UI should I test in? Moto Blur? HTC Sense? One of 4 different stock android UIs?

On a side note, Gosling has been working for Google since March of this year, and part of what he wanted to do was fix these very problems with Android. It seems Google listened to this "rant" pretty closely.

I wouldn't quite call this a 'rant.' I think the interview with Steve Ballmer when the iPhone was launched was better. Steve Ballmer says the iPhone is going to fail miserably :)

@Ericwvb2 I think u misunderstood him. He is talking about management not technology. He is saying google management is a piece of shit. and there projects are like eternal betas. they do not have the courage to finalize them.
