(cont'd) but as Christians, what harm is there in including all faiths into your salutation by not excluding them by screaming that it's all about your holiday. All the talk of the decorations and the trees being Christmas 'this' and Christmas 'that' makes Christians look bad. Why? B/c the many of the symbols (the tree, the yule log, etc) are actually pagan symbols and our holiday was/is a pagan holiday. Just look it up, it's not a bad thing, just stop pretending it's exclusively yours.
@maj1216 This isn't about including other faiths (notwithstanding that we recognize Haunakah and Kwaanza this time of year, anyway). It's about crybaby atheists and skeptics, trying to whitewash this country's Judeo-Christian heritage from history.
Christmas is a FEDERAL HOLIDAY, and its constitutionality has been upheld in court. So, we can have Nativity in the public square during this season. Our kids can sing song that actually mention CHRIST (like this one) in public schools.
Saying 'Happy Holidays' doesn't just mean political correctness. This faux ideology that there's some 'war on Christmas' and that they're trying to take 'Christ out of Christmas' has gone overboard for the past 7 or so years, thanks to Fox News. It used to be so innocent to just wish someone a Happy Holidays, because it meant you were wishing them a joyful season that included Christmas and New Years for those whom were of the Christian faith.
@maj1216 Atheists pull this crap every year. Ask the folks in Henderson, TX or Pitman, NJ if this is "faux ideology". As usual, some poor little atheist gets his feelings hurt by a Nativity scene and cries more than the baby Jesus actually did two millenia ago.
Groups like Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) target small towns and try beating them with legal fees, to get them to capitulate. But, usually when folks like ADF or Liberty Counsel show up, FFRF backs down or loses in court.
This song talks about the real meaning of Christmas not all of those Santa Clause and Frosty the Snowman crap. Vanessa does her thing on this one. Merry Christmas everyone. Stop saying "Happy Holidays".
@peacheslovesjesus Yeah. I've got no problem with Chanukah or Kwanza. I'd prefer you wished me a Merry Christmas and if that's not my holiday then just correct yourself and wish me that one. These stores are so disingenuous. They say "Happy Holidays" to be politically correct but all of the decorations and music is Christmas.
Ah yes! Vanessa Williams how could I forget about her. If there was a X-Men film back in the early 90's, Vanessa could of played her. NOT. She is such a outstanding vocalist; this brings me back to the good ol' Christmas days of 1992-1994. Don't get me wrong, Christmas is to be a holiday, mines was better in those early days. Don't asky why. Long live this holiday classic. You can find this on WOW Christmas CD.
This version always reminds me of a late-night jazz club during the Christmas season and, at closing time, the band finishes their show with this tune. LOVE IT!
Hey, I wish i had found this years ago. This tune got lots of airplay in Chicago back in the 1990s, but when I bought it on her Xmas CD, it was edited short....they sliced off that killer closing.
I love Vanessa Williams. I am not sure who came up with the concept of this video...but the black and white images of what I assume is NYC mesh so well and smoothly with the vibe of the song. It's not Christmas until I hear this song.
it's not xmas, but I tell you what this is in my xmas playlist for as long as it's avail... happens to be my fav rendition for this song of all! 10/10
Thanks for commenting, and the compliment on the name. Yeah that is pretty kool that we kinda have a common touch on the ends of our channel names... Nice! Missu/One
mine also...i also love christmas time is here drom chalie brown christmas...but no matter what, season or no, JESUS IS WILL ALWAYS be the reason for any season. Halleleujah
Very nice version. Slightly jazzy. She's not got the chops of someone like Mariah Carey or Christina A, but she knows her voice and its abilities, stays nicely in her area and it sounds very nice.
Absolutely My favorite version of this Song. Right on the cusp of ''Comfort Zone'' Album, back in day too. This was when Vanessa was riding high as a Singer. She's come a Hellauva long way since Miss America. She should do an all Christmas Jazz Album. Merry Christmas Everybody.
merry christmas to all, even those on the other side peace.
