@mtattrain According to my records, I rode Alstom 6047 again on March 14, 2009 and noted no unusual door chimes at that time, so it would seem that the problem has since been rectified.
Trust me, it's definitely not a 5000-Series. The double ceiling bar is a dead giveaway that this is a 6000 and not a 5000.
Additionally, the motors are audible, and the motors are definitely Alstom ONIX motors. The 5000's use Bombardier Mitrac motors, which sound completely different from the Alstom motors.
Did you ever visit the Glenmont Metrorail Yard? I checked it out using Google satellite, and when the trains leave the rail yard, they access the metrorail system through some type of facility thruway. I would like to see a video of Glenmont Yard? Apparently, there are a smaller number of trains that reside there.
I have driven past it on a number of occasions, but I've never photo'd it, though I do want to. Likely, if I'm going to photograph Glenmont Yard, I'll do it from where it abuts Layhill Road, which is the opposite side from where trains come in. The yard lead comes out at the west end of the yard, at roughly Atlanta Drive. Google Earth mislabels the emergency entrance to the yard as Atlanta Drive, so what looks like a road through the yard is actually not a viable viewpoint.
Is it still like that? Because I want to see that.

It'll happen on any DC metro train that you're on. Hilarious though.

Wow. They should keep that. It would brighten the commute.

Thats hilarious, If I see that pair, I'll make sure I ride.

Actually, it might just get fixed. I reported it to Metro as a maintenance concern. Of course, knowing Metro as we do, they still might not fix it.

That sounded like a chipmunk. Do they store blue line trains at Alexandria Yard.
cornrowcity 3 years ago
If not mistaken, I believe that Alexandria is where most Blue Line trains live, along with most Yellow Line trains.
