They have daytime shade temps near 50 *C (122 F) In full sunlight dark road surface gets heated often over 100 C so it gets really soft and almost as smooth as ice. Not fake IMO, been to Emirates many times (it's the same searing hot climate). I live in Poland where hot summer days are near 35 C and roads get to like 70-80 (badly burns feet if you walk barefoot on it). In poland - IMPOSSIBLE because of roads having more holes than Swiss cheese :D

Some clarification from a Saudi (not me, my pal who showed me this): The roads get intensely hot and basically get melted to unbelievable smoothness. Also, the sandals are likely camel hide which is also very, very smooth. As for how this past time came about I am led to understand that they drink (despite it being illegal) and take shit tons of pills. Basically they are doped out of their gourds.
