When I was sick in the hospital for 6 weeks people tried to give credit to God for my getting better.
They said they prayed for me, and that's why I got better, as if the doctors and medicine had nothing to do with it.
Your case is probably similar.

@legion1a Friend my case was not like that, I was in a church service and could barley walk. A friend of mine and a anointed man of God placed His hand on my leg and prayed for me, From the moment he took his hand off of me, I have not had pain since. Thats the power of God friend. When I was 3 I drank a quarter cup of Paint Thinner. Should have been dead. But God used the doctors and the medical field to get me better. Idk what happened to "wake" you up, But I will not stop believing.

@legion1a People usually do this claiming to be doing something biblical. If u say the biblical view of God is how you "see" him then the responsibility is to effectively portray that. Their actions are contrary to what they're attempting to align themselves with. Now if they say they follow the snake god then fine but by doing this they misrepresent the God they say they follow making them crazy not the God they see. if I'm color blind and "see" a green sky, that doesn't make it any less blue.

no, the snakes are not "defanged" as you put it. many of the handlers are frequently bitten, but it is their belief that the lord will not let them be harmed by it. they do not seek medical attention either. in the beginning what they are drinking is stryctnine. yes, rat poison. that is what causes the convulsions. as far as the ending, that is not a normal part of their worship. must have been performance art for the public

you should watch peter adair's documentary of The Holy Ghost People found here on YouTube. its really old but it at least tells you what is going on with these people. i am NOT into this religion personally and would not encourage someone to take a child to one of these services only because of the dangerous snakes, BUT everyone is allowed their right to FREEDOM OF RELIGION. with that in mind, i have studied several religions and this isn't the "weirdest" one, esp from a psychological view.

This is staged and pretty corny to boot. The Holiness churches who handle snakes (amongst other things) have a VERY strict dress code which would expressly forbid a preacher with long, greasy hair in a pony tail. And when the woman is "slain in the spirit", she's clearly with it enough to pull her skirt down. And I also have my doubts about whether making turkey noises counts as speaking in tongues.

Now that I've watched this a few times, it doesn't seem convincing as a true snake handling service, although it is entertaining. The guy with the sideburns is a better dancer than John Travolta was in Saturday Night Fever, and although the preacher has an awesome mullet, long hair is not allowed on men in these churches, as well as facial hair. I can't believe that this video has been up for three years, with 375 comments and not one person has noticed the caption, which identifies this at performance art. That means that this is not a real snake handling service. It is an enactment of one. The participants are actors or artists, they are not drinking strychnine, those are not poisonous snakes, and they are not speaking in tongues. But it is a great performance.

When the bible says, take up serpents and they shall not harm you, it means that if a snake were to ever try to harm us, God would protect us. As for me, if I saw a snake, I would take off screaming and praying! Lol.
