I read the book as well and I totally disagree with your film teacher. The only thing accurate in the film was the scenario. Other than that, absolutely nothing in that film happened in the book. If I hadn't read the book before I saw the movie, I'd be so lost because the movie didn't explain the story very will. Not to mention it didn't finish the entire story. The film was extremely watered down, sugar coated and confusing, but the acting was phenomenal. In my opinion, the book is way better.

The book is very raw and real. I can not see this book taught in a high school. However, it is a powerful story. I am a man & certain parts make me want to tear up. I can not wait for the Movie.
Finally a review on the book on youtube.. I've been wanting to read this book.Only problem that i have with it is the abuse. I liked your review on the book and from what I heard alot of people said they couldnt put it down either.

I admire her writing ability since as far as I can tell it is not autobiographical. The feelings and details of some of the scenes in the novel are ridiculous. I would have a hard time describing something like that on sheer speculation.
