Yeah this video is totally pointless. If you want to deal with bidding in an auction, paying for shipping/handling, and buying from a far-away/potentially unreliable source, you can use eBay and probably save a few bucks. If you want to have the convenience of going to a store and picking something up, then you'll probably have to pay a bit more. That's just how it is.
i love how you waste all your time making this video that makes NO sense what so ever. You have no clue what your talking about. you are just some useless, angry person with way too much time on your hands.
also, YES, we are trained not to give out what things are "worth" for a number of reasons. for one, we cannot always be sure how much things will go out for, if they will at all. we operate under assumptions of averages much of the time. also, if a customer is upset with an offer, by telling them the regular value it gives them leverage to try to build a case around their own - usually incorrect - assumptions. really, simply, what we offer is what we can afford to offer, according to our stock
if the purchaser has any problems whatsoever - even if he/she does not LIKE what they purchased, then the customer can easily return it for full refunds in a week's time, or full store credit within a month. you do not have any idea of how it all works until you have worked at HPB. you don't see the massive amount of books/other items that are donated, how low prices are dropped, etc.
just a note - i work at a HPB location, and for most things we reference Amazon. things are not always half price - there are pricing exceptions which are listed all around the stores. if items are out of print, they usually go for full price. we do not use ebay as a point of reference. we buy things with the knowledge of what we have and what should sell - also, with software, if it has codes, it may not work, and we offer accordingly. (continued)
comparing anything to ebay prices is complete bullshit - on ebay the prices arnt set, its a big auction house, since hpb is an actual store u need to be comparing the prices to actual retail stores - if not than that makes u am uneducated twit
