You never want to shake the camera. Shaking the objects in the fore and background are the best practicals to use, but it's always better to control the environment via vfx in post.
yeah, you wouldn't really be smiling if an earthquake is going off, you should be scared. all in all though it was alright, (try shaking other objects and use more people, then it would look awesome)
I would say its more of your direction than the camera. I believe Borne Ultimatum was shoot with a handicam. I use my Sony HDR SR-11 *SHRUGS SHOLDERS*
Look for a camera that can shoot in 24 or 30P with a manual focus. HDV would be a plus. I would recommend the canon hv-30 if you are new to this stuff.
It was used back in the days when cameras were so big giving them a shake was difficult, it is a mirror in a frame suspended with elastic, the scene is shot from the mirrors image and it is given a move, not much mirror movement is needed, have also seen it done on a very small scale as well....Thats movie Magic the old way.
Judging by the number of negative posts I can only surmise that the majority of videomaker subscribers are not beginners. Personally, I am looking for tips and tricks that I can actually use in my videos. This stuff will get u laughed at. Maybe videocopilot should take a look at digital juice, indy mogul and video copilot.
I think its mainly the clownish acting they do. Its like bill nye the science guy type videos. I know y'all trying to help, but i can't take y'all serious.
This video is here to help beginners to learn more techniques and SFX. If you already know the majority of these techniques, there is no need for negative comments. The videos are INSTRUCTION for people wondering about the hows, and the whys? And that is who we are aiming to help.

It's a simple trick and effective for the new comer, but the acting should be more serious. Other than that it's all good.
Keep it up, guy.

hakerboi5994 3 years ago
The effects are good, but the acting should be more serious and less comedic if you want to be taken seriously.
Earthquakes and humor don't work well together.
