IF THERES A AHOLE I DONT LIKE I WILL SAY the water shall be your mirror only when it is smooth you will see how much fairy tale is left for you and you will plead for salvation and little do they know they were already cursed lol
I will plead and plead and plead and plead and plead and plead and plead................. please. please please. please please please please please ple ase please please plese.i am here now i am an instrument of the dark if I can show the light to someone knowone. never ever.
The beautiful tone of Flake's keybord sounds a bit like baked sweet potato vendor (one of seasonal things in Japan in autumn and winter)...and it makes this song more sentimental. Probably it's only for me though...lol
We can't prevent the end of our lives. We can't escape from our fate. This song is about getting old then die, everyone's got the same fate. GETTING OLD THEN DIE.
I think that the old man is trying to tell Till that people often live in fairytales (illusions) created by the material possessions and attachments we have. The ripples in the water represent these material things and attachments and the fan smooths these ripples out, allowing you to see what is truly important in life. The clear water is the mirror that shows you the reality. Often though, people don't realize the real meaning of life until it's too late.
I think its about a prophet (The old man) who has the answer to all the worlds problems. But The world (the water) and the people messing the world up (represented by Tills character) wont listen. The fan represents the answers to all the worlds problems. The fan staying in the sand represents the world having all the answers right in front of them but not paying attention.
@spritejunkee That makes sense. But I've got a question. In the song what does he mean by "Fan." When I hear Fan I think of a fan that blows air. Is that what he means? Or is there another object called a Fan that he's referring to.
He probably means a fan that blows air. The old man blowing air into his face would probably represents him getting the answers to the worlds problems.
so beautiful.. I listened to this song so many times without understanding it and loved the melody so much, but now that I've read lyrics, the chorus part gave me shivers.. so deep this is
it's about the fact that only a few moments until you die, will you realize what your whole life has really meant for you
and when he says: the water shall be your mirror (this is one's life) and you'll see in it only when it calms down (when you stop living) and you will realize what have you achieved and what haven't you and you will know you haven't done pretty much ANYTHING that is worth a while...
@yapyyapo so to find what life really means to us, we should think about how dying will make us feel? that would definately be a strong motivator. from a negative stance, but "true".
@yapyyapo wow thanks! Do you know what other rammstein songs stories are about (excluding: Wiener Blut, Mein Tiel, Du Hast, Keine Lust, Bück Dich, Weißes Fleisch, Klavier, and Rosenrot)?
this song can be interpreted in many ways. here's my way of thinking:
i'm thinking about the story of a sun worshiper, as he dies. Either ancient egiptian, inca or aztec.
The final minutes of his life are spent during a common ritual, in which you must face the sun and receive its' enlightening. This is the character's final ritual, und die Welt zahlt laus bis zehn, and his soul finally becomes one with the sun...
@96FreedomFighter I think Sonne is about change. When he says, "...and it will never fall from the sky" it talks about how something will never change. The sun never setting wouldn't be a good thing, and neither would something lasting forever. That's why things change.
IF THERES A AHOLE I DONT LIKE I WILL SAY the water shall be your mirror only when it is smooth you will see how much fairy tale is left for you and you will plead for salvation and little do they know they were already cursed lol
