Those beautiful coconuts look like the Samoan Variety, which do grow closer to the ground... easy to harvest!
Do you have the "T" shaped tool?
You can pop 'em open like taking a cork out of a bottle, and you'll get 2 cups of water from each of those! Just balance it over your blender to drain... such a yummy way to start the day, and so nice as a base for smoothies and green juices.
You can throw the empty gourd on a sidewalk a few times and it'll crack open... grab a spoon ~ delicious!
It's easy to see this man has taken excellent care of himself over the years. To be in his 40s and look this good, he obviously knows something that most people don't. I seriously wish he would write a book.
Read on wikipedia and it says black sapote is also known as black persimmon. It is related to persimmon (but different species). No wonder black sapote looks like persimmon. IMHO, persimmons taste awesome when it is ripe and somewhat smooshy. Wish they have rollinia here. I find that fruit flies are more attracted to bananas. How many different varieties of bananas are u able to find over there?
@CleverDjembe If you're talking about the chocolate sapote then it isn't. It's supposed to be very soft before you eat it. It was just right and not moldly.
As for the other fruit. Much of it did get moldy from being in sealed plastic containers and then all of the water being released by the fruits.
hi roger, do they have dome or conical shaped food cover made either from natural material or perforated plastic over there in Hawaii? In Malaysia, they are called "tudung saji" which keeps flies away from food but allow air to go through. U can do a search on them how they look like. I think the chempedak is ripe when it is slightly yellow and gives off a fruity aroma which can fill up the whole house. Do they have jackfruit as well?
@pestanah I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the tips. Yes we do have jackfruit. Karmyn brought some home with her after I shot the video. We really like jackfruit now.
My first time tasting it I didn't like it very much. But this must have been a different variety.
