  • Any suggestions regarding reading (books, websites) about great wheels/walking wheels to educate myself prior to purchase? Questions to ask? Where to look? Makers? etc.

    Thanks!

  • @beckham48england No book or maker suggestions, but here's a checklist. Make sure the wheel has all of its parts (spindles and tensioners like to go missing). The only thing you should have to supply is a drive band (sturdy cotton string works fine) and maybe a cotter pin for the wheel itself (you can make one out of a common bright nail). Inspect the wood, looking for cracks or missing pieces (check every spoke). Turn the wheel and the spindle (will likely need oil). Tada, walking wheel basics!
