Not sure what you mean by "horrible", but I wouldn't be surprised if she maintained that accent deliberately as it's part of the "brand".

Sofia Vergara, also speaking with a strong accent, spoke almost perfect British English in one episode of Modern Family (and I think I remember her talking about purposely keeping her Spanish accent in a late night show). She's always casted as the caliente latina, so why should she lose the accent?
