I remember the uproar surrounding the Morris Johnstone signing. Rangers fans saying theyd never support the club again. The same when they signed the black guy Walters. You cant say religion and bigotry isnt a big part of what Rangers and Celtic (at least the fans) are about. And the reason it possesses a rivalry like no other is because it has been driven by a hatred of the opposite side for all these years. That hatred is rooted in religious difference. Not a colour clash, or a jovial friendly rivalry. Its roots are in something else. It may be getting better like I said, but its still a source of embarrassment. And so it should be. @outofslumber Celtic have employed protestants since day one, from groundsmen to goalkeepers and some of their most sucessfull players & managers have been protestants (Jock Stein, Henrik Larsson, some of the lisbon lions, Kenny Dalglish, Danny McGrain to name a few) and a big percentage of our fans are also (including myself) protestant. Of course there is a small minority that seem to get attention but I for one ignore it. I'm from Belfast so i know fully well how hard it is to live with.
