  • You guys know why this happened? Issac was on LSD and was fucking all the songs up so it kind of morphed into this jam session resulting in him cutting himself. It wasn't that cool actually lol I was there and I walked out afterwards.

  • @TherusDang PS I love Modest Mouse, it was just a bad show for them... in Oklahoma City, who can blame them I guess?

  • @TherusDang The best part was when he threatened to murder the sound guy for not turning up his vocals.

  • @TherusDang Seriously man how do you know he took LSD?

  • what is the name of this song?! anyone know??

  • @yooitsdani Take a wild guess.

  • As sweet as the jam is, and as kind of sad the cutting is, what I LOVE about this is right before he does it, Isaac goes to talk to Eric about it, who just nods approvingly with a huge smile.

  • At the beginning.. when Isaac starts going all crazy, and then the drums come in and he's like "HEY YOU!" that is pure epicness.

  • I was with a group of people talking to Eric Judy after a show in Austin, TX and someone asked him about what happened here. Eric seemed be embarrassed about it and dodged the question.

  • Isaac, fucking bad ass genius.

  • i think isaac was a tad drunk during this

  • why does the weird shit happen during such an amazing jam? holy fuck.

  • dude the drums on this. god damn. so tight.

  • @rougestr what website?

  • Through a mothaf*ckin fish-eye lens!!

  • funny cuz he goes, "would u fuck urself up!? i would fuck myself up." then cuts himself a min later

  • i downloaded this and abuncha unreleased stuff @ demonoid

  • @RonPaulsuperhero where do u get that stuff

  • Isaac Brock will kill a bitch.

  • i love how when he realizes the guitar he was gonna use was completely out of tune he just goes with it for like 10 seconds and then says fuck it. lol.

  • this guy is a mother fucking genius. anyone who says otherwise just doesn't understand.

  • @beezledubz and you dont understand the reaction to drugs in the blood stream.

  • Comment removed

  • This is really really fucking awesome. I mean the sound is amazing. Does nobody else think this is? I can't believe this is just a fucking jam session.

  • @plechazunga00000 yeah i was wondering if this was an actual song. i would buy instantly. fuckin awesome stuff

  • Hey, I found a free download of this song :D just go to archive . arcticsounds . org / index . php ? act = view & id = 31

(Whitout all the spaces in between)

  • this song kicks ass!

  • is he talking to the audience or is this part of a song?

  • @Guercinator thats what makes it good.

  • this man has all the right in the world to do what ever the schmidt he wants. Check my sons name and every album before Ugly Casanova, and Everywhere and his nasty little parlor tricks. Signed Iggy (heart)

  • i bet he was so fucked up

  • Man, I knew the guy was nuts, but I never thought he'd cut himself.

  • It's an improv jam from 2002. Isaac used to get wasted on drugs/alcohol before his shows all the time. It's likely that he is here too. Which isn't to say Isaac doesn't have any problems. It's likely he burns/cuts off stage too. In any case, they make great music.

  • haha man, who does this shit anymore. Isaac owns the world in my eyes.

  • That bassline is goddamn catchy

  • I love that people are nodding along with this train wreck.

  • Well, the music is unspeakably good and moving. I can't help but be distracted by the cutting though. It's gut-wrenching to see someone so creative and inspiring demonstrate self-destructive behavior.

Anyone cutting on themselves -- no matter how "artistic" the act may appear -- can't be in great emotional shape.

  • Comment removed

  • @alphatyrone actualy the fact that most artists are never in great emotional shape, being plagued with insecurities... is the reason many artists are around. because it inspires you to be creative. thats the reasaon music is around is because of an un-stable emotional state in a creative mind.

  • @xjakemarinx Bullshit. That is a stereotype some artists use to get girls.

  • the act of cutting isn't supposed to appear "artistic" at all.

  • is this part of the original song? its perpetual motion machine isnt it?

  • uuuh no, it's not, it's "blame yourself"

  • There isnt a song called that.

  • The song is called 'Blame Yourself" it's an MM rarity, it's never been released on an album. "Perpetual Motion Machine" wasn't written till 2006 and it wasn't released till 2009.

  • @leelee003 No. no its not.

  • GOTTA KNIFE?!

  • so many dickriders..

  • It's sort of wild.. I mean.. How insane he can get on stage. So energetic and shit.. Which I mean, is totally cool, and makes for an even better life performance..

But sometimes I just think it's odd for Isaac, because from a lot Modest Mouse's songs I get the idea that he's more of a chilled guy, and rarely has outbursts..

Then again, I haven't seen him life myself (which is too bad, as it's one of my favorite bands) so I dunno how often he does get wild

  • all of his live performances are pretty much wild

  • I love the Isaac dance.

  • Haha this is AWESOME!!!

  • modest mouse will never fail

  • I know they probably won't ever make a studio version of this but I sure wish they would or at least play it live again. This is like my favorite song of all time

  • The new EP has a different song called "Perpetual Motion Machine" that has lyrics from this song in it.

This particularly reminds me of older King Rat-style stuff. I miss it.

  • haha this song is mindblowing

  • he cuts himself at 3:45

  • patriot bullshit george bush the government, the other side, genocide what the fuck you cant deny that things are going up and not gunna be soooo nice... take a breath or take 20 after that you'll get no more, and you can see what you can see..

  • @EagleEyeKiller Nice lyrics. Very down to the crowd

  • wen did he cut himself at wut time

  • charles manson is alive

  • this jam is fucking great. of course isaac's insane; how could you be as smart as him and survive society without going crazy. this shit rocks

  • i wish this was a real song

  • 7:17 "Move my mic, I am all-powerful." "ok" *moves mic

  • Who is the guy playing guitar that is not isaac or eric? He is on the very left.

  • dann gallucci

  • Comment removed

  • Holy shit, where in OKC is that?

  • Oh SHIT! 3:45

  • what song is this

  • It's a live jam session named blame yourself. It's not on any album though so don't bitch to me about it where you can find it. Got it bitch boy??

  • wow your cool man, way to go

  • Yeah and you have a dozen videos of twelve year old girls shaking their asses on your favorites section. You really think you're in the position to call me out?

  • I didnt call anyone out, all I asked was what the fucking song was called u god damn shit sandwich eating faggot

  • God damn shit sanwhich eating faggot? Well I do believe it's on now.

  • haha this maverac guy is an asshole. but he sure is funny

  • what the hell damn shit sandwich eating faggot, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i like sandwiches with pineapple what you got to say about that hmmm? joking thats funny tho. never heard that used before

  • i love this shit...

    ..aside from isaac cutting himself

  • Isaac is awesome

  • that kidin front looks nervous as hell

  • Man, this is awesome.

    I feel dizzy.

  • I love Eric's bass in this video.

  • I know, it's awesome. It goes with Isaac's rant yelling.

  • hey you,

    do you blame yourself?

  • Comment removed

  • hey, send me a message. id love to have the mp3 if you've got it.

  • I'd like it.

  • hey do you think I could get an mp3 of that song? that would be stella if you have the time :)

  • lmao

    hes awesome,

    but what the fuck?

  • I wish theyd do a recording of this, its sick

  • Ive got this as a demo recording sum where, i think just in sum1s basement or sumthin, its pretty rockin' ill dig it out if u want?

  • That would be incredible.

  • I would like it too if you could

  • Amazing jam

  • Being on stage is a stress different than any other kind of stress, you cant stop riding that wave of emotion sometimes. All that free-form stuff he does at like 7:26 and the beginning is Isaac riding that wave, and sometimes you lose yourself. I once threw my guitar across the stage and put a hole in my orange amp because of the way the song we played made me feel. Its not necessarily a bad thing. Isaac blows me away because I know (or I think I know), how he felt when he preformed this, ALIVE.

  • Thank you! thank you! thank you! exactly...its all the stage... like.. when me n my friends practice in our studio, we dont go grazy, just move with what were playing..and on stage.. its just a completely different feeling. and it takes you over

  • Damn.

    Why did he cut himself?

  • Probably been asked before, but I can't be bothered to dig through pages of comments. What song is this?

  • he said what it's called about a billion times....

    it's called 'blame yourself'

  • Oh issac, why?

  • Modest Mouse is incredible. Issac can do whatever the fuck he wants, in my opinion.

I dont know why he cut himself and I really dont care. His sounds are better than most peoples entire lives.

  • exactly, isaac is the man. :)

  • >>His sounds are better than most peoples entire lives.

    Understatement.

  • Haha, you can here some girl saying Isaaac nooo, stop. haha

  • hHHAAHHA yea

  • I bet he is more likely drunk. but this improvise?

  • i bet hes high on coke

  • I KNOW you're mentally fucking retarded.

  • Huh? STFU pussy. We have more coke than you faggot fucks have ice and snow bitch. Go suck a cock eh?

  • lol im canadian we got nothin here what else we gonna do. but id rather be canadian and FREE than to be an american who keeps wavin his flag while to preocupied with the obvious fake war on terror than taking time to look at his own countrys terrible flaws. you need to stop thinkin aboutyourself and care about your country

  • Why do you keep talking about politics? I don't have anything to do with or have any control over that. Let's talk about you and how you can't control being The World's Biggest Pussy. Now STFU faggot.

  • o noo worlds biggesr pussy, at least try not to sound like a 13 year old bitch

  • lol id like to see you fight a canadian and not some fagit from toronto, we work on the oil rigs everyday , in the lumber mills and drink gallons of beer. one thing we are not are fucking pussys

  • dude, im american and i agree totally, this country is nothing like what our "founding fathers" had in mind. "BLOOD FOR OIL! LONG LIVE THE USA!", patriotism over rationality, americans are brainwashed, yes...but aside from that, nobody gives a fuck if any of you or all of you have coke...I could sit here and say "I have 50 kilos" and nothing has changed, because your a guy writing comments, and im some guy writing back....so get a job and get out of your moms basement...

  • the main diffrence between then and now is that 250 years ago it was patriotic to revolt against your government and demand your freedoms, but nowadays it is considered unpatriotic to question whatever your government is doing.

  • all the problems in the world stem from the monetary system. Things that are valuable are scarce, supply and demand ya know? The federal reserve actually creates money to give to the government, but charges interest, so how do you pay back interest? print more money and so on. But if its printed with interest, that means that ALL of the US currency has an UNPAYABLE interest and therefore, puts the world in debt by definition. LOOK UP ZEITGEIST II- ADDENDUM, it will explain better than I can...

  • i've seen it, and it didn't tell me anything that is not already right in front of our faces. It just showed more details on the numbers. We have been living in debt for years upon years now and nobody will question why? It's completely sensless. But most people don't have any sense.

  • this is pretty sick jam session.

  • break out the mercury lens for this one

  • #1 lisened to on my iPod!

  • you got this on your ipod? can you tell me where i can download this shit man, been lookin for it forever and its one of the very VERY few live jams/rarities by modest mouse i dont have.

  • do u want the vid? if u want that u need a youtube to ipod converter. if u want the audio message me and ill send the link

  • its just a jam its not on an album

  • what song is this?

  • blame yourself knife its only a live song

  • When does he cut himself?

  • 3:48

  • waiiit no. is this a wide angle lense?

  • ya, its a wide angle.

it does do a little fisheye effect. a fisheye lens is really just a SUPER SUPER WIDE angle lens that gets distorted around the edges.

  • what camera do you have? price?

  • it was an old mini DV video camera.

i don't even have it anymore...

  • Anyone know what kind of amp isaac has in the background?

  • i remember reading an article about his amps he only buys one certant kind. lemme see if ican find

  • are you filming this with a fish eye?? if you are it looks cool

  • the dancing from 4:12-4:30 is beastly

  • ummm does anybody have an mp3 for this? cause i would love to have it

  • mesage me if u want like for it ;)

  • i can't cuz i don't have a myspace

  • 4:23 sends an adrenaline rush every time.

  • hahah hell yea. i love this song

  • the funny thing is he looks right into the camera

  • omfg this is amaaaaaazing

who cares whether the cutting was real, it was affecting

  • i love how Isaac gestures for the knife too

  • i wish i was there

  • fake or not (I tend to believe the person who was there and actually filming this) this is a great song.

and wow @ 4:11 just awesome.

  • i love this song

  • dude are you serious?

    I WAS THERE.

    I FILMED THIS.

I SAW THE BLOOD RUN DOWN HIS ARM.

  • damn i love this song tho

  • this is fake i hope you know this. he saw that some dome kid had a video camera. and he walks over to judy and tells them that it's not going to be real and not to freak out. he knew that this video would cause controversy on the internet.

  • oh but of course!

youtube and viral videos were WAY popular 6 years ago...

  • And I'm not sure Isaac would give a shit anyway.

  • and plus it doesent even show a scratch or blood, it could of even been a tap

  • I think the people who've seen this think Isaac is a role model because of the way he can just play, and sing what comes to mind. Not because he cuts himself. But I find it immensly funny when he's pointing to the crowd and singing to each 'Hey man, you got a knife?'

  • if people are stupid enough to think hes a role model let them, we need retards like them to die anyway. they don't truly understand modest mouse

  • holy shit.....this jam session is awesome, i love the bassline....but add to the converations, as much as this guy is a musical genius, theres some stuff you just cant "follow" cause hes just in the moment, and it just feels right so it happens..

  • if this short fat lisp inflicted humble rodent is your role model you have a problem.

Issac is a fantastic musician with tones of spirit. This performance is freakin mesmorizing. I hold issac on a pedastool but i wudnt call him anything close to role model material.

  • I can't stop watching this. This performance is so electric. If you're watching this for the cutting part then you are deaf. Damn, I wanna see them again.

  • intense
