When you think about it, it makes sense that RA didn't win. It was really the first time she was asked for speed like that this year. I guess there was a workout or two when she went the last quarter pretty good, but she didn't get a chance to run like that much before this race. Her recent works at Churchill have been superb, and Steve is really happy with her progress. I would say she could race this Saturday, but I would still want her to wait till the end of April or beginning of May.

Losing to Zardana is not an enormous surprise. What is more surprising to me is the crowd betting her down to 1-9. Losing a prep race by less than a length is nothing new to horse racing and we'll all get to see her best race soon. This is gonna be good but I'm sticking with Zenyatta. Good luck to both of them and I hope all goes well.

My sincere thank you to John Sherriffs and Arnold Zetcher for allowing Zardana to expose this fraud, this overrated filly that the media ascended to greatness. She did not deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Zenyatta.

Let's cool things off on the Rachel bashing... she was second best in this race and likely wouldn't have beaten Zenyatta in the Apple Blossom.

The question is, is Zardana headed for bigger and better things? She ran a very good race in this one and it might be worth a stab running her in the biggest races.

Zardana is the real deal. She has never been beaten on dirt. She was a Group 1 Dirt Champion in Brazil. It was the synthetic that was holding her back. Zenyatta's best race was on dirt as well where she ran away from the field defeating the Eclipse winner Ginger Punch by over 5 lengths. Imagine if Zenyatta is also better on dirt?

Zenyatta goes 3/5 faster than Rachel in Oaklawn. Find me the one race where Rachel ran under 1:43 going 8.5F. You won't. Rachel has never run a faster race at the same distance as Zenyatta going two-turns in any race. MG doesn't count as it goes one-turn and Belmont was souped up that day. Rachel goes 1:55 for the Preakness. SLOW!

Yatta goes 1:46.80 hand-ridden going two-turns. 1:48s? LMAO! She runs 11+ in her last furlong in the BCLC. Another flat 12 and she runs under 1:59. She runs fast enough to catch any horse and then her ears are pricked. Look all her final times for 8.5F races. Under 1:43 except one. RA never did that once. Zen goes 1:40s-1:41s alot.

One thing I can tell you, sure as sunshine, watching this race, Rachel will never have another season even close to what she did in 09'. The Haskell was, and will always remain her best performance against colts, because it's the only race of the three she won going away and not barely holding on. As for anyone who thinks this filly/mare will ever beat Zenyatta, good luck. Because a fool and their money are soon departed.

There is nothing wrong with that horse or her rider, she simply got tired, she was fighting her rider the whole way and prob. spent way too much energy doing that.

Now why didn't they bring her back to an N3X for a tightener -- she's still was going to get 1/9 odds at the betting window -- The problem really here was Asmussen -- well, to begin with RA isn't really his baby -- he just happen to come along RA's path, and one could guess that he really didn't get to know her all that much... They should just retire RA -- from here on in -- all she will get is 1/5 odds at the betting window ---Gamblers appreciate this only if she loses!!!!. I say retire!

she's not even close to being eligible for a N3X, as she has 11 wins including 9 stakes wins. You could write a money allowance (say, non-winners of $3,000 since Sep.15th) but that's all. There's no need to retire her as she had a perfect prep and should move forward in her next start and will almost certainly beat any field of fillies and mares that doesn't have Zenyatta in it.

In 2009 Zenyatta made her debut in the Milady off a layoff longer than Rachel's Jermocide22. Quite making excuses. Rachel was overrated and I tried to tell you last year buddy. Sherriffs decided to expose her a month early because for him and Moss it was never about the money it was about respect. Rachel should never again be mentioned in the same sentence as the greatest mare of all time ZENYATTA!!!!
