I am attempting to create a Hebrew Lullaby, how should I go about creating the perfect melody that would make it sound like it could have been sung in the bible days?
Interesting how close christmas melodies and slow church hymn melodies match this. Ive always wondered how the psalms sounded, ive been making my own melodies up for awhile now, good to know im pretty close most of the time.
The piece I am badly attempting to play along to, is a reconstruction of the 3000 year old music of the Hebrew Bible, which, according to the claims of the late Suzanne Haik-Vantoura, she deciphered from the mysterious "Te Amim" accents attached to the text, which preserved an ancient reading tradition, lost since the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70CE, of an ancient form of musical notation using hand gestures, called "chirononomy" - this type of notation was also used in ancient Egypt...

there was no jewish culture untill 12 centry rashi. That is why the music has no relation to the part of the world which rashi imaginged they came from.
Absolutely fantastic that you have reproduced these ancient sounds. And this still has the ability to stir the soul over so many millennia. This is truly an essence of the Holy. Thank you for publishing it here.
I'm glad you have enjoyed my "Musical Adventure in Time Travel"! There is just SOEMTHING about these melodies that Suzanne Haik Vantoura deiphered, which is totally timeless - the 1st time I heard the original music of the Priestly Blessing, it was as if I was transported back to my Levite ancestry, playing my Lyre again, in the Temple of Jerusalem to accompany the singing of the Levitical Choir! Can I interest you in my forthcoming CD,"King David's Lyre; Echoes of Ancient Israel"?
wow! the chant and music really go well together. the chant sounds so much like the chants in churches. could the ancient jewish chant have influent the choirs in churches and cathedrals?
Certainly, the harmonic tonality uniquely found in this ancient music can still be heard in Christian Church music, & indeed - ie Plagal and Perfect Cadences, and the feeling of harmonic progression (as opposed to the simple ancient melodies played over a drone etc)
Excellent comments on SHV's discovery. I look forward to when you can better connect your harmony to SHV's melody and harmony; meanwhile you have the right idea as to the playing technique, which is BEAUTIFUL! :)
Thank you, John! What I really needed for these few experiments in accompanying the actual 3000 year old music of the Bible on the Kinnor...is a LEVITICAL CONDUCTOR! It was REALLY hard to try & keep exact timing with the CD recording as it was playing :o(
Actually they could...one beat per syllable, speech rhythm (in prose), or in dance music just as we can (cf. Miriam's Song in SHV's score of Exodus 15: contact me).
Wonderful as always...the information you painstakingly proved is EXACTLY what I've been searching for and now, I have a way to connect with others who know about and want to share this exquisite music. Thank you Klezfiddle1~

*Question*: In which century did the first anti-theist "culture" appear, pray tell?
Start learning how to spell properly.
