her best song. i've sat on that bench in soho square in her honour. taken too soon. you are missed Kirsty. named my first born after you. luckily it was a girl ;-)
my next birthday, i'll go to that bench in soho square, i'll make a video of it. i already booked vegas for this year's birthday trip.
if i ever win the lotto here, i'll kill the mexican mother fucker that killed her, his house boy got off with a $90 fine...that whole house will burn in hell. or maybe i won't wait, just make it a week's vacation. always next year.... kirsty's revenge, a nice video...
The life and musical legacy of Kirsty MacColl will be celebrated this fall at a star-studded tribute concert in London featuring the likes of Alison Moyet, Billy Bragg, Johnny Marr and Shane MacGowan.
“A Concert for Kirsty MacColl” is set for Oct. 10 — what would have been MacColl’s 51st birthday — at the O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire in London. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the singer’s controversial death in a Mexican boating accident.
what a beautiful picture, and if I could, I would have kissed her quick, as she said------cheers, kirsty, wherever, and when I get there, kiss me then
my favourite kirsty song. she was an angel. saw her live in new york city early 90s. she was incredible. taken too soon. there actually is a bench in soho square dedicated to her memory. i visited it once. the song is cinematic.
I'll visit Soho Square someday (if they'll let me) because I'd rather focus on what little and so very precious I knew about Kirsty - her immense talent, sense of humour, sense of fun, love of live, love of friends - rather than on her pointless tagic avoidable death who robbed us of so much. All of us. Thinking of you Kirsty, sempre! Que sejas feliz nesse infinito "Aí"
I love Kirsty MacColl's music. I've been so sad and so sorry she died when she did. She had more to say, without a doubt and we along with her have been cheated by her early death. In the time she was alive and performing, she spoke to so many people. I loved her long before she died, and I still miss her these many years later.
Kirsty was such a lamplight of honesty and pure love for music in its grittiest, poppiest forms. I can't pretend to know who she really was, but who I *think* she might have been shines through in every awesome song, including this one.
Oh dear what a terrible loss ,she was a very lovely woman and talented too. I went to the bench in soho square late January and sat down on my own and just thought about Kirsty and her poor family how very sad for all of them . Her music will truly live on though , I love the old tudor building in the centre of the square too .
seen her bench last night on our tutor group trip to the theatre in london we got 2 hours to shop and walk around, Its amazing how many people stop just to remmber. just shows how amazing Kirsty was that all these busy people still find time to stop and think.
sometimes god calls his angels all too soon - I met this lovely lady once and I have seen the bench too -she is gone but will never be forgotten -donna
you've met Kirsty? :-) wow i love her so much when ever i'm down i can put her music on and i'm full of joy, it must've been a ral honour to have met such a remarkable woman
Did you know that an actual bench has been placed in Soho Square to commemerate Kirsty and people gather every year on her birthday at the bench to celebtate her life - just as the song said.
@UpTheCliff Thanks for posting this. I am in London alot, and I'd love to go to see this bench on her birthday. When is it? I worked with people who knew her Dad well.. Actors at the Library Theatre.. and his talent/politics is all there in her. Its amazing. So sad that she died.
MattAbel- Thanks so much for letting me know about that. I will be there. She was so good, so subtle, and so talented. I'm glad that people remember her. Thanks.
Thats great to hear !! I would love to show my respects to a great lady who has brought me much happiness when ever I play her songs . I will try very hard to get to the bench again.
This song never ceases to move me. The perfect fusion of Kirstys melodic singing, poignant songwriting, and plain ol emotion. She will not be forgotten. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for posting this - it has to be one of the most underrated songs of a late, great and much-missed multi-talented artist. RIP Kirsty....and justice.
RIP Kirsty,11 years you have been gone.

She lived in the same London that Ray Davies observed too. The London I like best. The one with a Waterloo Sunset.

it's ridiculous this wasn't a bigger hit at the time. her songs never made the peak of the charts, but they have and will last for decades.

best song ever. so glad i saw Kirsty live twice in NYC in early. sat in the bench in Soho square. named my daughter after her. what else?
RIP kirsty maccoll.

This is the first time I heard this song and I'm hooked.
Kirsty's songs are in a league of their own nothing is comparable, the modern music just doesn't even nearly reach her songs to the ankels.
