At petco, you can get 500 mealworms for your reptile for like 6 dollars, and just so you have a good colony, I'd reccommend you get 2 of those containers : D

Happy Breeding! and Merry Christmas :D

  • hey im raising meal worms and i learned from a book at the library that the cereal kind of bran isn't good for meal worms. Pluse at the pet store when i bought them the mealworms were in the sawdust kind of bran.

  • The bedding the mealworms come in is only for temporary use. It's better to use oats (or bran? I've never tried that) and provide fresh fruits and vegetables. That way your mealworms will be healthy, and it's better for whatever you feed them to.

  • Those containers are way to small to have a good size colony.Check out my mealworm and superworm breeding video for all you need to know and feel free to ask me for help.

  • thanks :) real informative

  • Very good tutorial, I'm going to try this soon to save money.

  • i grind oats into a blender so its a powder its easyer to sift them out

  • /0\ this is the bat sign copy and paist every where so he can take ove the internet!

  • Too cool. You have been lots of help. I am tired of buying meal worms for our pet duck. She likes a lot at one time and one tub just does not go very far. Take a look at our duck on a video. Press my name and go to the duck.

  • hey, check my vid of my mealworms and see if im doing everything right. thanks

  • alright i am going to do this

    i have superworms also

well cheak my vids and i will sub you and can you sub back

    thanks

  • Superworms are discusting.. they are mealworms

(or king worms) that are fed a growth hormone..

i have been trying to raise them.. but they will not pupate (almost like a cocoon) i have had them for about four months.. they just keep growing...

  • I talked to a lady at a pet store where she raises her own meal worms and she suggested going to a Seed & Feed store and purchasing Bran there and putting it in a laundry room covering it to make meal worms. Have you heard this works? I was going to try Corn Meal, but didn't know about that working. I am also doing it the way you suggested.

  • what about water? dont they need water to drink?

  • i thought u have to crush the brand

  • is that all u have to do?

just dump them in there and alot more meal worms will come up?

cause all the other videos they have three containers and they keep the pupa and beetles in different containers?

  • how can you tell if the meal worm is turning into pupae?

  • They look like lobsters with out legs, ad they turn white then they thurn like a yellow color, and the chest cavity will crack and emerges the bettel.

  • what happens to the beatles after they mate? could you then use them as feeders?

  • nice vid dude.

    need more lighting tho.

  • um u cant make a mealworm a superworm. they're 2 different kinds of worms lol. R u talking about giant mealworms or somethin like that?

  • Yea i never realized i said "superworm" i meant the big ass meal worms. thanks for cathing that

  • Thanks for this, I'll need this for feeding the birds in the garden XD!

  • Lol idk if you wanna kill urself over wild birds, unless they are eating ur crops or plants.

  • Yeah my mum and dad have trouble with the pidgeons, flying rats, saves us having to shoot the buggers.

  • This wont work for long. All living thinks require moisture. These guys need slices of apple or carrot etc. Also pure wheatbran is what the comercial guys use, much better, and cheaper.

  • I bought wheet bran... or somthing like that. Is that okay for them?

  • thanks

  • ken u use oatmeal as substrate

  • yup i do and it works 100% great.

  • hey i was wondering ,because i'm gona do this, if i could feed my bearded dragon the beatles that they turn into. and also if instead of brand flakes can i use corn flakes?????

  • ummm..wax every once a week cause they tooo fatty.. also feed crickets cause mealies dont have enough stuff in them lol..u dont need many crickies though

  • Thats back in the day, i rarly feed waxworms, just one a month if that. and eddie was thin when i got him so i fed hina alot, now he gets like 20 a week. thx for the look out

  • can i feed my bearded dragon the beatles

  • Yepp asong as he is not a baby

  • hello, anyone know which are better to feed reptiles, waxworms or mealworms. give reason plz, thanks.

  • mealworms because waxwoms have a high fat content

  • i know how to raise mealworms cuz i have them in my class

  • Awesome! I had a science teacher that was culturing his mealworms for his many reptiles and amphibians. Since I'm planning on raising some toads at some point, I would like a supply of mealworms to fall back on if I can't get enough insects from the great outdoors in time to feed them.

  • how long does it take? do they turn black at all. some of mine are going black?

  • i have a tarantula and just didnt know if it was ok to feed them mealworms if anyone has any info message me on my profile.

  • do corn flakes work or not

    message me on my profile

  • my bad oat flakes

  • Thanks, I just did exactly as u said, I just put my meal worms in a tupperware container with bran flakes on the bottom and there all frolicking around in there now, I even have some baby larvae !

  • How many meal worms are in there? And did the bettels start to bread?

  • i love mealworms

  • well can u help me breed my mealworms for my lizard i can get them to turn in to beatles but i think i see eggs in the box they r in do i take the beatles out or do u just let them get on with oh thank for vid i was use the stuff they came in for there beed but al change it to flakes but thanks gd vid

  • you hurt him

  • ok cool thanks

  • ok i have like 5 and they are coconed right now

  • well go ahead and put them in there, when they hatch, put them on a thin layer of corn flakes like one side has the flakes, the other plain, and leave them some small juciy fruit so they have water, and you can even keep a mist paper towel as well, the will need water unlike the larva

  • the same thing like small meal worms too right?

  • Yepp, ull just need a slighty larger tuppawear, for amouts over 30 worms

  • would it work with larg meal worms?

  • Yea, they grow into beetles also, im not sure what spices though. them things are hideous and hiss like hissing cockroaches

  • dose it matter how big the worms are?

  • No not rele

  • haha ur cheap its generic

  • just like that no probs

  • yepp for the most part

  • so u just leave thim like that no probs

  • do u cover them with a lid

  • yea but i made small holes in it forgot to put that in the video

  • so the mealworm is just like the butterfly? it starts as a larvae then a pupa then a beetle? where do you buy them?

  • Mealworms can but ourchased at anyplace that sells small reptiles. Like Petco, Pestsmart or any pet store

  • Awesome thanks!

  • hey do they smell bad ? xD what do they drink btw?

  • Well the beteles are the ones that beed. The mealworms are the larva. No the beetles can fly, the can get out if u leave the top off for to long. To make superworms, you need to feed alot of food to the mealworms, and keep the in a smaller container, after awhile you will have huge mealworms.

  • this helps alot! :P

  • WOOOHOO BRAN FLAKES!!!!!

  • this video is helpful
